- Yesterday, I visited The Railway Inn in Williton to meet with owners Matthew and Lisa. VAT, minimum wage increases, and the business rates system have put pressure on business operations. I will continue to campaign for more support for our local hospitality businesses. #Somerset #SaveOurPubs
- This week, I was proud to show my support for @thebarcouncil.bsky.social's Justice Needs Juries campaign with barristers Sarah Jones KC and constituent Lucie Stoker. I will continue to oppose the Government's disappointing proposals to reform our historic jury trial system. #Parliament
- Reposted by Rachel Gilmour, MP for Tiverton and MineheadThe British people can’t afford for this Labour soap opera to drag on for months. Let’s have a confidence vote now to see whether Labour MPs have any confidence in the Prime Minister, so the government can move on one way or the other and focus on the change our country needs.
- I recently met with the Allied Pharmacies team in Parliament. After acquiring premises in Tiverton, Minehead, and Williton, it was useful to speak with the Allied team about the services on offer in the constituency and details of their takeover deal from Jhoots. 👉 tinyurl.com/Allied-Pharm...
- Members of the Armed Forces are the only uniformed service without a professional body to provide specialist legal and welfare support. I asked the Minister whether the Government's Armed Forces Bill would include the formation of such a body to assist serving personnel and veterans.
- Reposted by Rachel Gilmour, MP for Tiverton and MineheadThanks to Minister for Care @skinnock.bsky.social and Chief Dental Officer for England Jason Wong for attending our Q&A session on NHS #dentistry in Parliament today. The packed room shows the strength of feeling in Parliament on this crucial issue.
- Yesterday, I once again raised my deep concerns about the growing body of evidence against Peter Mandelson and his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. At this time, our thoughts must be with the victims of Epstein's vile abuses. #Parliament #Mandelson

- I recently made a speech about the merits of mandatory medical markers for firearm licensing. Mandatory medical markers would be beneficial for all parties - it would strengthen trust, enhance safety, and reinforce the responsible culture that already exists in our shooting communities. #RuralLife
- Hello, Tiverton and Minehead! 👋 Here's a summary of some of my work from last week. Later this week, I'm holding constituency surgeries in both Uffculme and Oake. If you would like to meet with me, please book an appointment here: forms.office.com/e/ymNpBKetKY 📝 #Somerset #Devon #Parliament
- Great to be out canvassing in Minehead on Saturday afternoon with Team Terrific! 🔶 Always a pleasure to meet and catch up with my lovely constituents, and to hear directly from them about local issues. ✅ @libdems.org.uk #Somerset #Community
- Yesterday, I met with Kalee and Emily from Rekindling the Wild CIC to work on ways I can support their exciting new SEND Farm School in Devon, which is set to launch later this year. Find out more about the work they do here: www.rekindlingthewild.org #Devon #Somerset #SEND #Education

- Last week, I visited The Chapel at Cotford St Luke to meet with owner Steve Elliott to discuss the challenges facing his business and the wider sector. Rising running costs, VAT, national insurance increases and business rate changes have put The Chapel at real risk of short-term closure.
- CASEWORK ROUNDUP FOR JANUARY It's been a productive start to the year here in the Tiverton and Minehead constituency office, with my team closing 1,278 cases. If my team and I can help you, please email rachel.gilmour.mp@parliament.uk ✅ #Somerset #Devon #WorkingForYou
- 🚨❌GOVERNMENT REJECTS WASPI WOMEN COMPENSATION CLAIM Earlier today, the Government rejected calls from the @waspicampaign.bsky.social for compensation following another review of related documents. #Somerset #Devon #Parliament
- Last week, I co-signed a letter to the Secretary of State, calling for fair compensation for all the women who were impacted by the increase in the State Pension age without sufficient notice. I won't stop fighting for the 7,060 WASPI women in Tiverton and Minehead. @waspicampaign.bsky.social
- CASEWORK SPOTLIGHT 🔎 I am so pleased that my office is making a positive difference here in Tiverton and Minehead - in this case, for a teacher who had problems accessing her pension. ✅ If you need help with an issue or concern, please email: rachel.gilmour.mp@parliament.uk 📨 #Somerset #Devon
- Storm Chandra's strong winds and heavy rain have led to flooding and the subsequent closure of roads, schools, and businesses across Devon and Somerset. Alongside @libdems.org.uk colleagues, I am calling for more support for communities across our region in response to successive storms.
- Today is Holocaust Memorial Day, where we reflect on one of the darkest periods in European history. I recently signed the Holocaust Education Trust's Book of Commitment, marking 81 years since the liberation of the former Nazi concentration camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau. #HolocaustMemorialDay

- Statement on President Trump's recent comments.
- Yesterday, I visited West Somerset College to meet with staff and students. As the only sixth form facility in the entire constituency offering A Level courses, West Somerset College is playing a paramount role in providing opportunities to young people in the area. #Somerset #Education
- The only time Article 5 of NATO has ever been invoked was by America when her allies rushed to her defence following 9/11. Four hundred and fifty-seven British flag-draped coffins came home from Afghanistan. Trump's comments are an utter disgrace. Grubby ignorance laid bare.

- Yesterday, I met with representatives from @thejlc.org, @cstuk.bsky.social and the @antisempolicytrust.bsky.social in Parliament. It was valuable to speak with these organisations about tackling the recent increase in antisemitism and protecting the British Jewish community. #Parliament
- Water companies across the UK, like Wessex Water and South West Water, have taken our communities for granted for far too long. Yesterday, I voiced my frustrations about the lack of accountability within the industry. #Devon #Somerset #Parliament #Environment

- Today, the Prime Minister has shamefully approved the building of the Chinese super-embassy. This move poses a serious threat to our national security and sends a very weak signal to our adversaries. The Government must urgently reconsider this dangerous decision. #ChineseEmbassy #Security
- Last week, I met with Martin Lines, CEO of the @nffn.bsky.social, in Parliament. It was good to speak with Martin about some of the challenges facing our farming community, as well as strengthening food production resilience in the months and years ahead. #Parliament #BackBritishFarming
- Last week, I visited Tidcombe Primary School in Tiverton for a Q&A session with their Year 6 pupils. We had a great afternoon discussing a range of local and international issues, as well as future careers in politics. Thank you for inviting me along for such a lovely afternoon! #Devon #Education
- Good morning! 👋 Here's a snapshot of what I got up to last week in Parliament and in the constituency. Next week, I will be holding constituency surgeries in Timberscombe and Minehead. If you would like to meet with me, please fill out this form: forms.office.com/e/ymNpBKetKY #Somerset #Devon
- Reposted by Rachel Gilmour, MP for Tiverton and MineheadStarmer’s US policy lies in tatters. Trump is now punishing the UK and NATO allies just for doing the right thing. Time for the PM to stand firm against the bully in the White House, and work with European and Commonwealth allies to make him back down from this reckless plan.
- 📣🗣️HAVE YOUR SAY: WEST SOMERSET LAGOON Today, the West Somerset Lagoon team has launched a public consultation, which will run until Easter of this year. Access consultation information and share your thoughts here👇 www.westsomersetlagoon.com/public-consu... #Somerset
- This week, I met with Minister for Policing and Crime Sarah Jones to voice my concerns about the increase in rural crime across our constituency. It is now time to see action from the Govt. Rural communities both need and deserve more support. Read more here👇 somersetleveller.co.uk/crime/somers...
- Reposted by Rachel Gilmour, MP for Tiverton and MineheadTonight's turret meeting will be pretty awkward
- This week, I met with Local Government Minister Alison McGovern to lobby for a fairer funding settlement for Somerset. Although Somerset Council may have no other choice, an 11% increase in council tax for residents is simply not fair or affordable for many. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
- Last week, I joined local residents and stakeholders in Tiverton Town Hall to discuss the issues surrounding pharmacy provision in the town. There is a cross-party consensus and a clear desire for local pharmacy services to be improved. Read more here 👇 www.devonlive.com/news/devon-n... #Devon
- 🚨🎉CAMPAIGN WIN: MANDATORY DIGITAL ID U-TURN And just like that...another U-turn from this Government - that's 13 now! I am delighted that the Government has come to its senses and backed down from its problematic and illiberal mandatory digital ID plans. #NoDigitalID #Parliament
- I am disgusted by the recent cases of the AI software Grok being used to create indecent, non-consensual images of women and children. Yesterday, I raised my concerns with the Secretary of State. The National Crime Agency must carry out an urgent investigation into the use of Grok on X. #X

- Last week, I visited Bishops Lydeard Church School, where I met with pupils and staff. ✅ I am so pleased that more young children in and around Bishops Lydeard will be able to benefit from the school's excellent learning environment when the new nursery opens next September! 🎉 #Somerset #Education
- Reposted by Rachel Gilmour, MP for Tiverton and MineheadIt’s time we started taking Trump’s threats seriously. God forbid if Greenland is attacked, the UK should immediately sanction the Trump Organization and think twice about whether we want US forces on our soil at all.
- Hello, Tiverton and Minehead! 👋 Here's my first weekly roundup of 2026! As always, if you have any concerns that you would like to discuss with me, please email rachel.gilmour.mp@parliament.uk or book a surgery here: forms.office.com/e/ymNpBKetKY ✅ #Somerset #Devon #WorkingForYou
- Yesterday, I wrote to the Chancellor to ask for clarity around speculation of a U-turn on business rates relief for pubs. I urged the Chancellor to reconsider her decision to scrap business rate relief for hospitality businesses, and introduce a cut to VAT to boost our high streets.
- As we feared, new reports have confirmed that the Govt has asked ministers to find savings within departmental budgets to fund their digital ID card plans. I will continue to fight against this costly and problematic scheme, which will divert funds away from our vital public services. #NoDigitalID
