Today, February 2, is World Wetlands Day, the anniversary of the Ramsar Convention of 1971. In the U.S., this day comes at a time when many of the legal tools that once mirrored Ramsar’s ecological understanding—the Clean Water Act of 1972 and Endangered Species Act of 1973—are being narrowed.
