- Journalism is a public service and I would be willing to accept paychecks commensurate with those of other public servants such as for example cops
- Reposted by Tory Wegerskiwhat a godawful day for journalism, following a great many other godawful days for journalism
- Man I am not one to complain about the refs but this ref absolutely has it out for the Penguins tonight. Rewarding embellishment after embellishment and there's no way that 3rd Ottawa goal was legit.
- I love when I read a Chotiner interview and I can hear the whistling noises as his statements sail over the head of his subject. Like the sound of an incoming mortar shell.

- Reposted by Tory WegerskiBREAKING: The two federal immigration agents who fired on Minneapolis protester Alex Pretti are identified in government records as Border Patrol agent Jesus Ochoa and Customs and Border Protection officer Raymundo Gutierrez.
- Men, ask any woman -- ANY woman -- how old she was the first time an adult man hit on her, harassed her, hollered at her. I was 10!

- I keep thinking of all the times I've covered protests and stepped off the sidewalk or run ahead of the march or gone somewhere "unapproved" to get a shot, and all the times I HAVEN'T been arrested. The arrests of Lemon and Fort are meant to have a chilling effect on journalists.
- Reposted by Tory WegerskiPresident Trump has filed a lawsuit against the IRS, in which he demands that the IRS, which he as president controls, pay him $10 billion. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
- QUIT TRYING TO WALK ON THE FROZEN RIVERS PLEASE
- Reposted by Tory WegerskiI wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good. Stay free
- Wind chill is -11 degrees this morning in Pittsburgh. Stay safe out there.
- Saw @daniskitchen.bsky.social's question about the City of Pittsburgh suspending trash collection through Sunday & what that means for biweekly recycling. Texted my assignment editor who emailed the City: the answer is sticking to your regular schedule & you have to hold onto a month of recyclables.
- Pennsylvania GOP Sen. Dave McCormick is hosting a telephone town hall tonight at 6PM; here's the link to RSVP: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F... Two days ago he called for an investigation into the murder of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis.
- There's already a podcast that does this and it's called Knowledge Fight and by god Dan & Jordan did not sacrifice their sanity to be erased from the discourse

- About to walk to the bus in the -14F wind chill because my street is still very snowed in. What a week.
- Pittsburgh Mayor Corey O'Connor is holding a presser right now & says the city went into the storm with 95 salt & plow public works trucks and 37 went down & out of service over the course of the day.
- My street & the streets around it are impassable to my little Yaris so I'm gonna hike down and see if Pittsburgh Regional Transit can get me Downtown
- Love it when federal officers fundamentally (willfully?) do not understand the purpose of the press
- I love all the videos of Pittsburghers skiing around our hills. My neighbor went by on his cross country skis while we were shoveling.
- We have shoveled 5 times since 7:30AM and every time we go out I marvel at how much more snow has fallen. We're shoveling our 78-year-old neighbors' house too and they just rewarded us with homemade cinnamon rolls. No idea how I'm getting to the newsroom but that's Monday Tory's problem.

Mr Rogers said look for the helpers, & right now the helpers have a target on our forehead ... Mr Rogers would be here right now too, so I'm here."
- Protesters in Pittsburgh gather a block away from the ICE headquarters on the South Side in the wake of this morning's fatal shooting by an ICE officer in Minneapolis. It is 3F with the wind chill.

- Looks like anti-ICE protesters in Pittsburgh are heading to the ICE HQ on the South Side in the wake of this morning's fatal shooting in Minneapolis.

- The video shows exactly what is described. What strikes me is how the agents all immediately scatter away from the man they just murdered, and stand there, like they're helpless, like they're not the reason the man is dead and it just happened.

- Here's a vosot. I took some inspiration from @kylec.bsky.social's anti-snowy-patio-furniture-pics PSA from 12(!) years ago.
