- Now that my video is out, I can catch up on other videos on Yooka-Replaylee. I think @samwebster.bsky.social made some especially keen observations in his video, including that all of the game's jokes about corporate culture reek of cognitive dissonance when coming from a post-layoff Playtonic.
- After a 13-year wait, Karnivool's fourth album In Verses is here. Did it deliver? Not sure yet. Their previous album Asymmetry was a slow burn for me and this one's even more of one. Fewer hooks, more moodiness, but one thing's for sure...holy crap, WHAT A CLOSER. #NowPlaying
- So much exciting music coming out tomorrow: Joji Mandy, Indiana KMFDM Puscifer J. Cole But all that is gonna have to wait, because I've been waiting on a new Karnivool album for nearly 13 years.
- Been revisiting an old 2010's rock LP that I really loved when it first released. Members of Every Time I Die, Fall Out Boy, and Anthrax came together under the moniker The Damned Things. While the style is straightforward hard rock, there are so many hits here. youtu.be/x7Y-iv_Dth8?... #NowPlaying
- Final bump on the Yooka-Replaylee video before it's in the hands of the SEO gods. Not every comment was positive, but I was happy to see how many people got what I was going for. Thank you for spreading the love on this one. ❤️🎮
- NEW VIDEO: In its vigorous pursuit to outdo its original, Yooka-Replaylee sacrifices a lot more than it really should have. Listen to me talk about it for 25 minutes. Link is right here 👉 www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQGs... 👈
- Bump on my new video on Yooka-Replaylee. Despite getting a less positive reception than other videos, this has been one of the best-performing video releases I've had in years (even beating out the DK Bananza video). I hope you enjoy it and please share it around if you did! ❤️

- New video essay dropped this morning! I talk about my complicated thoughts on Yooka-Replaylee, a remake that significantly swerves away from its original game's design, and how this swerve doesn't provide an automatically better experience. Hope you enjoy the video! 🦎🦇

- I really love the airy, elegant vibe of the group Keep Shelly in Athens. This cover is wonderful.
- Leave it to some ex-Refused members and a wild saxophonist to make 2026's first truly great album. Recommended for fans of noisy, jazzy, punked-up music.
- As you probably already know, I'm a vocal supporter of Red Candle Games (and a vocal detractor for GOG as a result), but I'll give credit to this interview for not letting the GOG managing director off the hook, and pressing for reasoning on why Devotion never made it to the storefront.
- It has been admirable seeing her try to bridge the gap between heavy metalcore and cleanly produced pop music, but this one doesn't land. The hooks just aren't there and so little stands out compared to the much more interesting Negative Spaces album. #NowPlaying

- Seeing so much GenAI album art baffles me. Regardless of if the goal is to stand out or save money, the argument dies immediately, because Death Grips used a literal dickpic for the cover of No Love Deep Web and made one of the most recognizable album covers of its decade.
- A handful of virgin listens from this weekend. So much music to discover and experience. ❤️🎶 #NowPlaying Bring Me the Horizon - There Is a Hell Believe Me I've Seen It. - As with video games, there are a lot of influential or culturally relevant music albums out there that I've never listened to that I want to experience in 2026. I want to dig into the vault and see why they work the way they do. One of my first selections is TNT by the band Tortoise. #NowPlaying

- I don't mean to subpost, but there are a sizable number of people on this site who I used to talk to that I genuinely want to reconnect and reconcile with, and the fact that it hasn't happened really makes me feel bad. It's a heartbreaker.
- Wrapped this all up and things look beautiful. I will say that Playnite seems to prioritize the "Big Picture" experience most of all. The best themes I've seen are stylized around the TV, but I still have my desktop theme looking super clean and sharp. I'm pretty blown away at how this turned out.

- Keep an eye on @auranym.me's Youtube channel. I have a feeling they're gonna go places with quality videos like this.
- I've been tinkering with the application Playnite to keep track of all of my PC games across various clients, and holy crap, is it satisfying seeing all my games organized together with unique box art, metadata, and even playtime. Dammit, I love curating my video game library.
- Stay safe out there, Minneapolis. Don't give up the good fight. #NowPlaying
- Even a decade later, he was still so far ahead of us all. There'll never be another. #NowPlaying

- After going so far off the creative rails with their last couple of records (and imploding after Reba left to play guitar for Marilyn Manson), it's easy to forget how good this album was. Code Orange really was a powerhouse and it's a shame they never reached this level again. #NowPlaying

- New video script is going very well, but I'm torn. I have a reasonably sound thesis, but I'm tempted to go right for the jugular and make the most clickbait-iest title I've ever composed. Not sure what to do.
- Reposted by Alex CarlsonIn 2026 wizzy is looking for video editing work! I can do video essays, shorts, narration, podcasts, audio mixing, talking head video and more. While most of my experience is in gaming I'm open to anything. My style is detail oriented to let the voice of a piece sing without distraction.

- I like to imagine that Yoko Taro is using his Nier android magic to digitally broadcast the face-covering image into our minds, all Ghost in the Shell "Laughing Man" style.
- I'm going to make an effort to play fewer "new" games in 2026. It's less about "muh backlog" and more because there are a lot of very groundbreaking games released over the decades, the kinds of creative statements that have shaped the medium. I want to experience why those games are so legendary.
- 2025 was not a good year... a deep creative rut, a ton of anxiety limiting social interaction, and most importantly, the passing of my mother. Even with so many struggles still lingering, I'm really hoping 2026 moves in a stronger, better direction. Happy New Year, everyone. Let's kick ass in '26.
