When reading Black Flame I wondered at the weight of the Baroness' filmstock.
If 35mm, at 24 frames per second the 16,043 frames in one reel would be 668 seconds long, ~11 minutes. At 16 frames per foot, 1002 feet long. At 2 grams per foot, almost exactly 2 kilograms.
The full thing is 3 cans of film, so triple all those numbers.
Ellen is lugging close to 20lbs of film to Rachel's apartment, which is a weight that would *suck* in a shoulder bag.
The math's probably off because I can't remember if it actually was 35mm stock, just guessing.
Anyway I got to that point and was like "wait celluloid film can get heavy as hell, is she lugging like half her body weight in film across the city? Just how heavy would it be?"
Ah, 75 minute run time, so I *did* guess wrong with the film size.
75 minutes of 35mm would be 108,000 frames, and weigh about 13.5kg.
