- Regarding the Discourse, lemme just say that if you can't draw, yes you can. Everyone can draw, and folks will almost certainly respond more positively to your stick figures than some generic "A.i." slop. Also, there are LOADS of resources for free images. Like this! 🧵 www.nga.gov/artworks/fre...

- Every instance of "AI democratizes the arts, you're classist and ableist and a gatekeeper for trying to stop it" is a slap in the face to the literally centuries of poor, disabled people making art on the margins and a crass lie in service of a machine that strips down and regurgitates dreams
- The "Frieren angle" thing, apart from just being delightful, also completely demolishes the pathetic "AI is democratising art" argument. Someone struggling with a difficult drawing received advice from hundreds of strangers who just wanted to help them improve their art.

- Here is one of the completed image boards ("style frames") complete w BG by the great Shinji Kimura. This was the first time we ran our entire cel "pipeline" (smeared brown ink, mottled paint, soft shadows) mated with a real BG. #Tekkon #AmerBeton #anime #アニメ #西見祥示郎 #木村真二 #松本大洋 #鉄コン
- Layouts for our first three image boards ("style frames" outside of Japan?), drawn by our brilliant Animation Sup / Character Designer Shojiro Nishimi (on #Animatrix paper, since this was all we had in the studio with 'scope frame markings 😅) #Tekkon #AmerBeton #anime #アニメ #西見祥示郎 #松本大洋 #鉄コン

- My covers for Speed Racer 6 and 7 have been revealed! And if you’re thinking, those kind of look like they connect, they do! And I’ll be doing three more! Coming from @madcavestudios.com, @peposed.bsky.social, Davide Tinto, Jão Canola and Buddy Beaudoin.
- Context: this speech is from SIR THOMAS MORE, a history written, as near as scholars can tell, in the early 1600s by 6 or 7 people including Dekker, Heywood, Chettle, Shakespeare, and Munday. It was never performed, because Jacobean England was a police state and it was banned by the censor.
- Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again. #Pinks #ProudBlue

- A panel from one of the last Peanuts comics. I think of it often.
- Here's the full comic, from January 2, 2000. It was the last strip that featured Peppermint Patty, arguably Peanuts greatest character. Schulz died six weeks after it was published. It's perfection.

- The California State University system spent $16.9 million last year giving ChatGPT to all students, faculty, and staff. We are asking the CSU chancellor not to renew the contract with OpenAI when it expires. Anyone can sign the petition — link below!
- The CSU/OpenAI contract is set to expire June 30, 2026. Sign this petition: actionnetwork.org/petitions/cancel-ch… for the CSU NOT to renew the contract and to use the savings to protect jobs at CSU campuses facing layoffs.

- Not to get political, but America is very pretty and has a lot of nice folks making cool things, and I think if we had a president who wasn’t actively trying to murder us, we could have a pretty good time

- One of the best actors of her generation. Easily one of the best comedians of all time. As much Catherine O’Hara as we got, it was nowhere near enough.
- Dorks will be like "AI is expanding what’s possible and allowing storytellers to go places they simply couldn’t before" and then use it to recreate the year 1776, something that has been possible since the year 1776. They still sell the hats at the store and everything.
- Dorks marketing a major superhero series will use AI to make 1980-style lunchbox, and say they were only using advanced tech to look more like it was hand-painted in the year 1980, something that was entirely possible without tech in the year 1980. They still sell paintbrushes.
- What's more, the guys who used to do those hand-painted illustrations for the exact same company are still around, running gofundmes to stay alive without royalties or healthcare, and could have done those illustrations far better for far less than whatever AI plagiarism startup they hired charge.
