- I know that citation statistics are faulty indicator, but I have to say that there is something humbling in knowing that people have decided 100,000 times to cite a paper that I was involved in.

- When I was little, the U.S. military came to our home at gunpoint and took me and my family away. We were imprisoned for years in barbed wire camps simply because we were Japanese American. I have spent my life telling that story, hoping it would never be repeated.

- Not sure if it is only me, but I find this year's NeurIPS communication towards reviewers and (co-)authors quite aggressive and intimidating. It might be effective for receiving reviews in time, but is it really what we want as a community? There are many circumstances that can explain later reviews

- "Dr. Kobak and his team calculate that at least 13.5 percent of all biomedical abstracts appeared to have been written with the help of chatbots." Not so surprising, given tools like Writefull (now integrated into Overleaf) that are explicitly marketed to scientists for this purpose.

- The only way I can navigate the ML literature these days is #ScholarInbox. At conferences, it builds a list of relevant posters for each session and I don’t know what I’d do without it. I 100% recommend this tool. www.scholar-inbox.com

- There are 2 previous historical cases of countries destroying their science and universities, crippling them for decades: Lysenkoism in the USSR and Nazi Germany. The Trump administration will be the 3rd. It's not just budgets but research, institutions, expertise, and training the next generation.
- A serious thing for Harvard to consider would be to relocate before the endowment is exhausted. Sell the campus land and move to another country and keep operating. Read the fate of CEU here below. They relocated several times and recently from Budapest to Vienna. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central...
- We have several open, fully-funded PhD and Postdoc positions at my group, now at the University of Tübingen. Please #RT and share with potential candidates! Generally: AI for scientific discoveries in physics 🔥. mariokrenn.wordpress.com/wp-content/u...
