- We are appalled by the terror attack at a synagogue during Yom Kippur in Crumpsall, Manchester. We stand with the Jewish community of Greater Manchester at this time and send our condolences to the loved ones of the victims.
- We mourn the loss of Dr Jane Goodall. Her work as a biologist and science historian made tremendous scientific achievements. As a pioneer and one of the most renowned scientists of the 20th century, she paved the way for more women to enter a male-dominated field of science.

- Today marks the 52nd anniversary of the death of Salvador Allende, a committed socialist who dedicated his life to improving the lives of the Chilean people. He was murdered as a result of a coup against a democratically elected government, but his vision & legacy continue to inspire us to this day
- Today we remember Anna Lindh, former Swedish Foreign Minister, who was murdered on this day in 2003. She stood for a principled foreign policy rooted in human rights and championed a united European voice. Her legacy will endure.
