- I’m very, very tired and apparently incapable of writing readable posts. We were meant to go out and support some local arts thing (in a town where local arts things really need supporting). But think bed.
- The interview was over the phone & he was happy to talk & talk. He was delighted that the novel took the science seriously and was keen we met up in person when I visited Drumnadrochit in 2018. He encouraged me to write a novel about the search for Yeti in the 50s. It’s still an idea I’m mulling.
- Ah, Adrian Shine with the camera recovered from Loch Ness and repaired by The Repair Shop team. He was incredibly gracious when requested an interview to help promote my Unbound fundraiser for THE CONTINUITY GIRL. He even offered to check my science and I was delighted when he gave it the all clear!

- I mean, if that video’s not proof of a mind unfit to govern, what is? Do any of the amendments of that once-sainted constitution mean anything at all?
- Lovingly constructed a most magnificent sandwich for my lunch this morning. Left it at home, naturally.

- Three years ago. Who was it in n about? Doesn’t matter, really.
- I mean, there’s a hell of a lot of terrible shit going down, and all of it’s apt to make you feel as though the world is irredeemably awful. But if there was just the tiniest indication that sometime there’d be a let up in the CONSTANT BLOODY RAIN…

Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again. #Pinks #ProudBlue

- When my sister and I were very young, Dad used to play guitar to us. I have vivid memories of him playing Ghost Riders in the Sky as we lay in our bunk beds. When we left home he started playing in pubs and clubs around Banbury and built a reputation as an authentic Texan country blues singer. 1/

- With The Muppet Show returning, I’m posting this again. Honestly think it’s the best version of the song. The most moving and the funniest. They replace the weakest verse with patter that’s a clear improvement on the original. m.youtube.com/watch?v=CBCh...

'Yeah, you can do it.' 'I know but your name isn't One Take Kubrick, is it?'
- When the first series of The Night Manager was on, I casually looked up the bios of the three main male stars. Different ages, but they all went to the same prep school in Oxford.
- As a working-class boy, it was massively inspirational seeing all the working-class singers, actors, directors, playwrights dancers and artists that were visible and successful. Now it’s appalling to see the way in which we’ve been shut out almost completely. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

- Also, I have a perfectly good Candlemassy novel set at this time of year in 1604 (New Style), involving priest holes, poisoned lemons, an innocent sister caught up in the machinations of her cunning brother, a clutch of pre-gunpowder plotters, and a romantic, dreamy aristo-poet ripe for gulling.
- Wonder Man is really good. It’s my favourite of these things since Hawkeye. Confident and witty and with great character work from the writers and actors. Did Ben Kingsley really used to insist on being called Sir Ben all the time? If so, this feels like atonement.
