if i’ve spent longer than 30 seconds not thinking about captain cadence chase i will die
- also hate it in a very “kids these days” way, like it’s not at all comparable to say glimmadora vs catradora was spop’s makorra vs korrasami, like i’m very glad for the kiddos whose only “ship war” experience was thru that, but that was like barely a ship war and it was two sapphic ships

View full threadah damn, i’m sorry :/ i admit i’m probably not as deep in it, or maybe it’s because most of my time spent in the fandom has just been interacting with catradora stuff which is like the main ship. not that I didn’t have to deal with my fair share of general “anti-catradora” silliness back in the day
- but that always seemed like it was mainly coming from people outside the fandom anyway who just hated the show in general so it was like, lol, who cares? it was easy for me to just laugh at and brush off

- honestly, although i might sound cranky in this thread, i truly, TRULY feel so thankful to have a show where this is a thing! it’s why spop “ship wars,” if you can even call them that, have never bothered me
- two big-ish threads back-to-back? i guess it’s one of those days…
- reflecting on the fact that although it wasn’t intentional, my moving from twitter to bluesky fit perfectly with my subconscious understanding of the fact that at a certain point you reach a number of followers on a platform that makes your enjoyment of it decline significantly

View full thread*note this is purely advice if your goal with social media is simply to ENJOY yourself: if your goal is fame and/or fortune then obviously the more followers the better (which might be enjoyable to you! but it’s also gonna come with a lot of pain and suffering)
- personally i don’t feel i need the fame or fortune (which is a privilege to be able to say! - a lot of people need social media to make a living, etc) but i do admit i like the idea of having influence, something that can still draw me into the cult of wanting to gain followers if i’m not careful
- what i’m trying to say is: best practices with social media based on my personal experience when it comes to enjoyment* is get ready to abandon ship somewhere within the 2-3k follower range
- i honestly got lucky when it came to twitter: i hung on so long with tumblr i had to learn to wean myself off by hand, and it’s why i continue to stay at a distance to this day, at least subconsciously (consciously i just forget to go on 😅)
- that number being around 2k+ from my personal experience: this is about the point where you go from being an account that has enough followers where the majority of your posts get interacted with consistently (good!) to “uh oh, do i have ‘big name account’ status now?”
- once you reach “big name account” status there are certainly perks that come with it, but there are many more difficulties that require you to start doing more: muting threads, blocking trolls, worrying about a post going viral and inevitably getting a storm of “SO YOU HATE WAFFLES!?” reactions
