Here's why you should read the Discworld novels in chronological order.
Reading by themes like Witches, City Watch, or Rincewind is all perfectly alright. I'm not going to act like the book police. You do you. I'm just saying, after going by theme and later chronology, I came to love the latter.

See, for one thing, the Themes and their characters aren't neatly organized into specific books. They bleed out into other books. If you only read, say, the City Watch books, you'll miss "The Truth," which isn't officially part of the series. Yet the Watch characters feature prominently in it.
