- Really enjoyed this podcast. Fascinating discussion and I’m interested to check out Manvir’s work on narrative also.
- We often treat religion and shamanism as fundamentally different. But the two are deeply enmeshed, and a push and pull between them has played out repeatedly across history. Just one of the topics discussed in latest episode, with @manvir.bsky.social! Listen: disi.org/the-shaman-w...

- Oh no Nathan, I’m so sorry. I just saw that your podcast is back, was looking at your account for more info and saw this. I can only hope your treatment is effective. It’s not fair.

- Having you join the Zoom meeting would be great, we have had authors join us in the past. I didn’t want to ask since I think you are in the UK? The meeting is Oct. 7 at 7 pm EDT so that would be midnight for you? If you’re a night owl . . .
- Hey Will, your book has been selected as the October read for the Humanist Canada Zoom book club (on my recommendation)
- Thought-provoking podcast. Less land for agriculture means more land for nature, so more efficient farming methods are better for the environment.

- Good grief. I didn’t know it was that bad, even though so recently met one of those conservative climate change deniers. Very concerning to say the least.

- I’m so very sad for you. It’s crazy this is happening. But very happy and excited to welcome you all to Canada!
- It simply is no longer viable for us to hold the 2026 World Humanist Congress in Washington DC as planned, with the US in the state it is. Delighted to announce that we will instead be hosted by the wonderful people of Ottawa, Canada!
- I’m very sad for our American friends that it has come to this. Such an upside-down time we are living in that this is happening in the “land of the free.” But very excited and happy to welcome HI to Canada!
- Just finished Why We Believe by Agustin Fuentes, a good follow up to David Sloan Wilson’s Darwin’s Cathedral. An interesting read although he lost me a bit near the end in the discussion of “scientism” which I don’t really think is a thing. Next up Will Gervais, Disbelief.
- Recommended read (non-fiction by the author of the excellent novels American War and This Strange Paradise)

- Me too. Really good, insightful.
- Want to help solve the climate crisis + save money? When you need to update your heating system get a heat pump. When you need to update your car, get an EV. More efficient and less costly to run. podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/s...
- I wondered about this when I Iistened to the CBC Ideas podcast “Techno-Utopia or the Billionaires Wet Dream” that featured Emile P. Torres.

- The Chiang affair is taking up too much oxygen. Paul Chiang needs to withdraw his candidacy so the campaign can get on with discussing the issues.
- Looks like Chiang has done the right thing, hallelujah.

- The Paul Chiang affair is taking up too much oxygen and hurting the Liberal campaign. Chiang should step down or be dropped so the media can get back to the issues. Stop giving the conservatives ammunition.

- Climate change need not/should not be a left/right divisive issue. Decarbonization is good for business as well as for human survival as discussed in this excellent, as always, Transition Show podcast about Australia’s progress.
- Ep. 246 continues our miniseries on Australia and discusses how the government is working with the grid power sector to plan and execute its #energytransition while maintaining system reliability. They're doing it right down under! xenetwork.org/ets/episodes...
