- The assessment links #ecosystem collapse to cascading security risks: migration, conflict, pandemics, economic instability, geopolitical competition for resources. It also flags UK #food system vulnerabilities: we import 40% of what we eat, and we can't achieve self-sufficiency at current diets.
- You might expect our legislative framework to reflect this: it doesn't. Sch. 17 of the Environment Act (meant to tackle #deforestation in supply chains) still isn't implemented. Financial institutions remain outside scope. The gap between threat assessment and Ministers' policy responses is glaring.
