- Reposted by Ana RodriguesHow many opportunities did I lose because men I encountered or worked with did (or didn't) think of me as someone they could get in bed? What was the point of a reporter willing to cover an active warzone if they were still laid off after bad decisions made by the paper's senior managers and owner?

- Oh here's a recording of the first ever public rendition of my talk from last year at @cssday.nl www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iufu... I was so but so nervous and I couldn't sleep the night before! But anyway, I will be back this year but this time cheering and hosting all the amazing speakers!

- Reposted by Ana RodriguesThe wonderful @jakearchibald.com joins us in May for All Day Hey! 2026. He'll be speaking about "Composing video in the browser". Jake's been producing short-form video on web platform stuff recently, and the videos are assembled, edited, and encoding entirely in the browser.
- I used to lie to myself and be afraid of taking space (I still do though). A form of that was being "chill and cool" when people misspell my name on emails. Especially my first name. But today I am actually furious. But still, I am afraid of being firm and correcting such obvious thing.

- As someone who works on lots of websites for social good, charities and support I get immensely frustrated when people claim that there’s only support for their causes on social media apps with evil algorithms & hurtful patterns. There’s more out there and you don’t need an app to access those.

- I know this isn't an airport and I don't need to announce it but I've deleted the TikTok app off my phone. Might delete the whole account, I don't know. I feel a bit sad - I've used it for so many years and it allowed to discover things about myself and brought me closer to some people.
- Reposted by Ana RodriguesMy book, Accessibility For Everyone, is now free and online as a website. accessibilityforeveryone.site The book was first published by A Book Apart in 2017 but it holds up! It covers web accessibility for designers, developers, content folks, and really everyone who works in tech.

- According to its new privacy policy, TikTok now collects more data on its users, including their precise location, after majority ownership officially switched to a group based in the US. www.wired.com/story/tiktok...

- Cried myself to sleep over the results of the Portuguese elections and then my toddler decided she didn't want to sleep from 4am. Very much a Monday for me.
- I’m lucky that I live near central London and was able to easily pop into the consulate today to vote. Not allowing postal vote for immigrants is a disgrace.

- I needed a new domain so I went to check who is sponsoring my favourite conferences. So yeah, just gave my business to @krystal.io
- The other day I went to a friend's house and asked them where they got the art they had on their wall. They replied about a few & then said "and that one I did it myself" and omg what a wonderful surprise! They are a very offline person so I had no idea. It made my day & I'm still thinking about it

- Most corporations are deliberately staying on X because they know the majority of sensible people have left. This allows them to cut even more on customer support staff and not follow the law on things they should be supporting their customers on.

- The last time I wrote a year in review was in 2019. I ended it with “have a healthy 2020” and we all know how that went. Don't blame me if 2026 is shit too. ohhelloana.blog/2025-no-sleep/
- My last "year in review" post I wrote was in 2019. I have been considering writing one for 2025 but as a "glass half-empty" person it is so hard.

- Reposted by Ana Rodriguesyou’re right! it feels mostly awful to Go Online™, these days. the internet in a sad state, for reason after reason after reason. but there is a way to fix it; to trade the voidful howling for a quiet & joyful song. here’s how to win the war for the soul of the internet, and build the Web We Want.
- I’ve been crying for the last hour because I just sold my daughter’s buggie. It’s been a while since we last used it but I didn’t know then it would be the last time ever. And just like that I have a little girl. Probably one of the last items of her babyhood. 💝
