Un impacto silencioso de nuestro modelo de consumo y de una mala gestión de residuos. 👉 Nos lo cuenta @juliancap.bsky.social
- Reposted by NoeSuper excited to share the first paper from my PhD! 🎉 We found that rivers don’t just matter for wetland birds - they also help support terrestrial insectivores, thanks to the flow of energy and nutrients from aquatic insects. 🌊🦟 Read more here: 👉 link.springer.com/article/10.1...

- 🧵 I had a great time at #MigFest25 as always, it’s 👍🏼 to see so many people who also ❤️ birds/migration. But really upsetting that people have to get ridiculously close to get a shot/view of a migrating bird, likely exhausted. Please respect wildlife. Red-necked phal - water’s edge, <2m from people.
- The bird was trying to get to shore, but was pushed away by the people. Is this how people healthily love and care for birds/wildlife? 💔

- Reposted by NoeThis does not address the key issue, the large parts of the CGNP are burnt for grouse shooting. This dries them out and makes them more flammable. We need rewetting and a national scheme where all fires are banned during times high fire risk. @cairngormsnews.bsky.social www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

- Reposted by Noe🧵1/7 What do massive insect crashes mean for insectivorous birds? And can aquatic habitats help? Today at #BOU2025 I'm exploring how aquatic habitats might help to buffer declining insectivore populations, using the Spotted Flycatcher as an example. #ornithology

- 🧵1/5 Freshwater ecosystems are among the most diverse and threatened, with 22% species 📉 , including the White-throated dipper. I'm presenting at #BOU2025 today looking at environmental factors influencing freshwater system's declines using dippers as model species. #ornithology #Conservation
- 🧵2/5 Climate change is one of the drivers causing these declines, although its effects have been less studied than pollution and land use change. We investigate the effects of flow changes on offspring development and parental care in dippers, a highly specialised fast-flowing water species.
- 🧵3/5 We found that higher flows are associated with 📈 chick growth rates likely due to the effect on aquatic prey abundances that are associated with fast flowing and highly oxygenated waters.
