- A recent theme in my lab is following thru on including #SABV. Grad student, Stephen Collins, showed that our model is well suited to study sex differences as it overcomes the differences in alcohol pharmacokinetics between M and F. Need SABV? - Reposted by Nixon LabSome good-ish news from NIH “Federal Register notices for study sections run by CSR (but not those by ICs) will start being permitted again” As far as I know, the timing for this is not clear, but I will be checking the Federal Register.

- Reposted by Nixon LabHere are some data documenting the funding "pause" pulled from NIH Reporter. Current results (FY25) (Red) are compared with results from FY21 (first year of Biden Administration) and FY24. Note that data from Reporter lag behind release of NoAs by ~1 week. I will be tracking this going forward.

- Reposted by Nixon LabSpecial shout out this AM to NIH 🧪 grant mgmt specialists, POs, and SROs during this chaotic time - THANK YOU for caring for our grants and uploading scores/summary statements despite the unprecedented challenges you may be facing. - I have no more words, especially after reading the hate on that other site. 48% of the US does not understand (perhaps does not care to understand) that NIH research underlies nearly every new drug discovered. 💔 www.science.org/content/arti...

- Reposted by Nixon LabIt is simply not enough for universities to say, “Our grants & research offices are looking into how research will be affected by the latest directive.” University leaders must actively and very publicly make the case for the kind of work many of us do. The silence on this front is deafening.
- Reposted by Nixon LabThis account is for sharing info with US scientists, both extramural and intramural to NIH, about attacks on science in the US. - Reposted by Nixon LabI think some people hear “grants” and think that without them, scientists and government workers just have less stuff to play with at work. But grants fund salaries for students, academics, researchers, and people who work in all areas of public service. “Pausing” grants means people don’t eat.
