I handle a few things at The Arcane Library, but one of my favorite things is Customer Service. Here is why... 🧵
1) Everyone is excited and enthusiastic for Shadowdark.
2) When the rare issue comes up, I'm usually able to fix it quickly, which people seem pretty thrilled about.
3) It's fun being able to connect with people. Every time someone emails from Colorado, I make sure to say "Hi from Fort Collins" (where I live)....
When people email from New Zealand, I greet them with the Māori greeting "Kia ora" (think how everyone uses "aloha" in Hawaii).
I traveled around Slovakia in October, and I've helped no less than THREE customers from there since then, so I've got to share what I enjoyed about their country.
When I was in Türkiye last year, I got to help someone in Istanbul. If only I wasn't at the airport about to leave!
I really pride myself on being personable with folks, not using "customer service speak," & letting people know I'm a person that's as excited to help them as they are for Shadowdark.
Dec 11, 2025 19:24I've had people tell me I can crash with them if I visit Cyprus, Finland, Denmark, New York, the UK, and more. I've done enough couch surfing in my life (once staying with a porn star... a story for another time) that I absolutely would take these strangers up on their offers. I hope to someday!
I guess what I'm saying is just that it's cool that the Shadowdark community is now kind of EVERYWHERE. It's a big small club that we're in, and as much as it's about the game, it's about the people too.
We've got a lot of good eggs in here, & the helpful attitude & overall positivity only makes Shadowdark more attractive to players coming over from other RPGs or who are just entering the hobby.
In my option, Shadowdark's success is as much about the people as it is the game. Good job, everyone!
