- Reposted by Nick de SemlyenWhen I interviewed Spinal Tap and Marty DiBergi this summer, none of them broke character, for the whole hour. Except Rob Reiner, once, losing it when Michael McKean's David St Hubbins talked about minimalism. I didn't use this in the feature and hadn't published any audio, but this is joyful.

- While in Warsaw this week, I got to visit the Kinoteka and watch the 4K restoration of Amadeus, with a full house. What a joy. Hadn’t seen the film for many years and had forgotten just how funny it is - and how hard that ending hits. The ultimate movie about jealousy. Cinema’s greatest giggle.
- This is a big one 🔥 For our new issue I got to head to New Zealand to shadow James Cameron for 2 days, as he perfects Avatar: Fire And Ash. Eyeball-searing subs-cover art by Fire And Ash concept artist Dylan Cole. On sale Thursday. Available to order online from Monday. Subs copies dropping soon!
- Direct from the mixing stage of Tron: Ares… our new light-up cover! As posted by the film’s director, Joachim Rønning.
- We’ve all been there.
- There’s a moment in Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours that is the closest I’ve come to throwing up in a cinema: the bit where the knife tip touches the nerve (accompanied by gnarly sound design). Haven’t seen 28 Years Later yet but wonder if there’s anything in it that will elicit the same reaction...
- Yes, @chrishewitt.bsky.social and I are shamelessly plugging again, in another episode of The Shameless Plug, talking about the highlights of our new issue - and some tales from various sets. Have a listen. And please check out the issue: it’s - yep - fantastic. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...
- Spotted this ‘advert’ on the Tube. NOT OMINOUS AT ALL NOPE.

- Have been hearing great things about this one from all over… and it all proved true. Make sure to catch on the big screen while it’s out - this is the real deal: hilarious, heartbreaking, and probably other positive words beginning with ‘h’ too.
- Listening to some Beatles this morning, and suddenly remembered this photo that the Hobbit actors from LOTR made for Beatlemaniac Peter Jackson for his birthday.
- Very excited for this. Set the Bruce loose.

- Had an absolute blast joining Brad and Gary to talk Michael Palin, mutant plants, and Margaret Thatcher vs Monty Python on their excellent podcast, which is travelling episode by episode through early SNL.

- Very sad to learn that Barry McIlheney, Empire’s visionary original editor, has passed away. Sharp, funny, and bold, in 1989 he and his team laid down the tone and philosophy of the magazine, something we still strive to follow today. Here’s a piece he wrote for our 400th issue a few years back.

- Not seen this kind of language used before around press screenings. Positive responses allowed. Anything negative outlawed. Heinous.
- Sydney Sweeney talks to Empire! And sits for a really quite awesome, Old Hollywood-inspired photoshoot, masterminded by @mrchrisbailey.bsky.social and Joanna Moran, shot by Art Streiber. Read the whole interview by Rebecca Nicholson here: www.empireonline.com/movies/featu...
