I get that people like to blame Reagan for everything but whether or not he was elected neoliberalism was still becoming a powerful doctrine globally and the rich wanted their concentration of wealth back. He was useful for this but it would have happened anyway.

It’s easier to say “Reagan was the problem” than the underlying system of capitalism that tends toward imperialism and monopoly is the problem because you can still imagine it could have been avoided on a long term time scale without changing the underlying economy
