- It's time for curling, yet I cannot see any curling anywhere and that is making me sad. (I missed the ~120m of curling the BBC had on this morning due to work type stuff.)
- Reposted by Brian NisbetI was wearing hi vis when a motorist drove into me. Passengers in the car got out to tell me the driver was really upset because she didn't see me. I didn't have much sympathy as I was picking gravel out of my hands. I was visible. She didn't look.

- Reposted by Brian NisbetNo joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition. Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...

- Reposted by Brian NisbetI qualify. I'm obviously not going to go work for Grok, but boy, I certainly would like one of the writing jobs that everybody in the comments is being so sarcastic about making more than that, bc I tell you what, I sure as fuck am not making more than that and you guys KNOW how much I write.
- Off down to Cork for #Warpcon today. It struck me that it's the 30th anniversary of my first trip with DU/Trinity Gamers. What a glorious and strange trip my life in fandom continues to be! If you're around Cork this weekend come play games in UCC! warpcon.ie

- Every time I see an ad for the BBC's Apprentice I'm so glad I was persuaded to stop watching. Those who enjoy, enjoy, but after the fact I realise just how much my own experience was a depressing hate watch.

- Went to see No Other Choice this afternoon. While I felt it could have been a little shorter, overall great dark humour film that I would absolutely recommend.

- I would really like if Leinster could get out of the "third gear" they seem to have been in for most of the season so far. It's great that even playing at a mediocre level they're winning matches and topping the EPRC pool, but still. Anyway, onwards! #BAYvLEI

- When you have large parts of the media and far to many politicians dog whistling and lying to people about the effects of immigration, it's no wonder people think this. So very dangerous and depressing.

- Quite some time ago I resolved to stop using Twitter and hadn't logged in for ages. I didn't deactivate it for reasons. Those reasons are no longer valid, if they ever were. If you're still on there I can only implore you to leave, and leave fully.
- Wary of how talking about things gives them publicity, but... yeah, no. Or at least, not like this. The intro video alone would be enough for me to run far, far away, but pitting people with very little power against each other will never be my kind of game.
- While I love my niche stupid hobby of historical board gaming, sometimes it does just make me want to scream. Take the latest example, a board game about the Irish Potato Famine where you get to compete with friends to see who survives best (?) www.kickstarter.com/projects/com...
