PldX, a luminal Phospholipase D, is necessary for the efficient destruction of ingested Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria in Dictyostelium discoideum phagosomes. PldX and the AlyL lysozyme together attack the bacterial membrane and permeabilize it.
