I know I'm several decades late to the Party, but Legend of the Galactic Heroes is pretty good, huh?
I like the tired Captialist Admiral.
Oh wow, the capitalists have extrajudicial fascist death squads?
How topical...
Jan 30, 2026 18:26Now, I wonder what kinds of evils the Germans will be up to...
You can see these are real Germans, because they think that gesturing towards the German Empire of the 19th early 20th century makes them less evil.
I'm usually very oblivious to these kinds of things, but the two space Germans will definitely kiss at some point, right?
I am shocked that this guy who is called the German word for brat turns out to be a scheming sleazebag.
also I love how this show starts with several big space battles and now it's been four episodes of politics.
Oh, I think I get it now. This show is a sociological study on the decline of two different political systems and also about gay yearning in space.
I'm prepared for this to all unravel into nothingness 40 Episodes in, but so far this show is eating Gundam's lunch.
I love how the Capitalist Guy's arc is just being presented with a never ending chain of administrative hubris.
I hope Capitalist Guy and Blond Space German never meet and spend 50 episodes yearning for each other across the battlefield.
The Romance between Blonde and Red Haired Space Germans is being sacrificed on the altar of realpolitics.
I am stricken with grief, or as we Germans call it "Trauer".
I don't trust that Oberstein fellow.
I really love how this show swings between "oh I love it when the space nobles are bickering" and "this description of the collapse of a liberal capitalist democracy is very close to what's currently going on".
Sure on one hand, I didn't do much else over the weekend than watching 31 Episodes of Legend of the Galactic Heroes, but I also spend my weekend watching 31 episodes of Legend of the Galactic Heroes.
Listen, all I knew about Legend of Galactic Heroes was that it had Space Ships and Germans in it. I had no idea it would do things like this:
Here's my theory why Capitalist Admiral is so endearing:
He is clearly competent at the war stuff, but he is also an absolute mess of a human being and everybody around him knows it.
As I hit post, I got another thought:
He is basically Homer Simpson who is good at war.
I love how there are episodes that are just characters watching in-universe history documentaries.
None of the Blonde Space German's advisors understand that he's in love with the capitalist admiral.
also a shame that Space Germany abolished the idea of therapy. I think the young Kaiser is suffering from Depression.
A small thing I appreciate about this show is how often I've been wrong with my predictions when characters are going to die.
Honestly, aside from that one *very unfortunate* death, not many main characters have died.
Well, I'm getting close to the end, so I bet things are going to get nasty soon.
you can see how the Capitalist Admiral keeps winning by the fact that his subordinates routinely make fun of him, while everyone around the Blonde German is scared.
By the way: Nobody's shocked that the Space German Empire ended up picking up the Nazi Salute again.
The title of Episode 82 makes feel uneasy about the continued survival of everyone's favourite Capitalist.
I am once again filled with Trauer.
Are the Liberals trying to reform Space Germany from within???
Don't know for what, but I feel this screenshot might come in handy in the future.
As a German, I too can understand the blonde German's reaction when he's reminded of the events on Westerland 3 years ago.
I honestly think that the main problem of the Kaisers malaise lies in the fact that Space Germany seems to be a deeply homophobic society.
Someone should have had a talk with him a long time ago, but instead he turned into a depressed dictator.
