Biking guy for recreation and transportation. Enjoys baseball, movies, dinosaurs, and the opera. Somehow one of Toronto Life's 2025 Most Influential.
- Sometimes I wonder if my 4K TV was really worth it, and sometimes I watch INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE.
- Reposted by mlongfieldHello from the Harbord bike lanes this morning. Anyone from U of T, lower annex, to Dufferin Grove getting delivery have humans negotiating this. As @brooklynspoke.bsky.social said, some behaviour is annoying but they aren’t the enemy & we should push back on the villainizing.
- At the War On Cars show last night, @shawnmicallef.bsky.social said that bike delivery riders have brought a critical mass of cyclists to Toronto. It's true: they are the ones out there navigating the roads year-round, in all weather. They are cyclists and they deserve support and safety.

- Reposted by mlongfieldThe War on Cars, welcome to Toronto! We are so excited to be in the city that inspired the podcast's title. We’ll see you at our LIFE AFTER CARS show on Thursday, Feb 5th, hosted by @cycletoronto.bsky.social. Who knows? Maybe we can convince Doug Ford to come. boxoffice.hotdocs.ca/websales/pag...

- Can we hurry up with the proverbial back-breaking straw here please?
- Wes has really hit at something here: "Notice how all the progressive efforts to make everyone feel like they are entitled to everything end up with all of us having less, then being at each others' throats about it?" The bike lane menace feeds into the culture war positioned as a zero-sum game.
- Reposted by mlongfieldHere I am in front of a 2 meter pile of snow in the bike lane where my Bike Lane Winter Maintenance Required was "Completed"

- Reposted by mlongfieldHere it is: the inside story of how the Eglinton Crosstown LRT went off the rails. This was the result of months of work, research and sourcing. www.thestar.com/news/gta/off...

- Why is this so difficult?
- And the CBC clip: youtu.be/Pgo9LXzMjso?...
- Big day in court. Cycle Toronto v. Ontario appeal hearing today. Got to chat with CBC about defending our Charter rights and importance of evidence-based decision making. TL;DR: You're not stuck in traffic because of bike lanes and despite the premier's bluster the Ontario government knows it too.
- "You come at the king, you best not miss" Doug and I have our disagreements, but you're not topping this effort.

- Dear god, a moratorium on elected officials shoveling snow, please.
- Agree.
- Reposted by mlongfieldIt’s the big day! The appeal hearing @cycletoronto.bsky.social’s successful Bill 212 case is being heard at Ontario’s Court of Appeal. Time permitting I’ll try and live post the proceedings, like I did for the Ottawa convey injunctions back when #lawtwitter was a thing.

- DoFo wants to rip out bike lanes for more cars = more congestion. "Even if it is accepted that there will be induced demand... it is unquestionable that more motor vehicles will be accommodated by roadways with more lanes available to motor vehicle traffic." www.torontotoday.ca/local/politi...
