- London FoC is back! Presented my work on data ethnographies, space + place and mapping, alongside a host of demos exploring HCI classics, malleable software and permacomputing. Lots of lively discussion all around. Thanks @chee.party @todepond.com @mimireyburn.bsky.social for being awesome hosts.
- @priti.is Showing us the Atlas of Intangibles -https://atlasofintangibles.com/ A sensory set of walks through London documenting digitally intangible things: plant growth, sounds, graffiti, weathering, litter, damage. All presented through gorgeous data vis and design And some hardware at the end!
- Always a pleasure to hang out with the FoC London crowd, had lots of lovely conversations about this demo and a million other things too. Thanks @chee.party @mimireyburn.bsky.social @todepond.com for hosting, looking forward to the next one!!
- Some demos! (Though in parts because Bluesky has a 3 min video limit) 1/2 @orionreed.com making desktop windows malleable: adding sidecar windows, porting data between them, adding custom formatting, and obvs needed some sand and lava piles

- This gathering of the minds was brought to you by feelingoff.com, your source for potting soil and dental appliances. Remember us next time you're in midtown. And as Jimmy always says, "No I don't!"
- special thanks to @spiralganglion.com @jimmyhmiller.bsky.social and the feelingof.com community for making it possible for there to be pizza and drinks in London yesterday listen the podcast, subscribe to the patreon, join the slack, let's all be friends

- Big ups to @mimireyburn.bsky.social, @chee.party and @todepond.com for bringing the Feeling of Computing to the streets of London, England! I think with your help this town could really put itself on the map someday.

- I have Gas Town derangement syndrome and spent the last few weeks writing thousands of words on agent orchestration patterns; how they shift our bottlenecks and force us to ask whether and when we should stop looking at code maggieappleton.com/gastown
- And I am unreasonably proud of making all the diagrams in this responsive on mobile. With no help from Claude. Lovingly hand-crafted only because agents are shit at visual explanations and graphic design. I am still useful for a while yet.
- The London Future of coding meetup came back last night! Now renamed to "the feeling of computing". More context on the name change: feelingof.com/the-name/ I handed over running it to @todepond.com, @mimireyburn.bsky.social, and Chee. They're doing great – same energy and wild demos as always
- yes i liked that

- I am going to need three more brains to process the current rate of change in any reasonable fashion.
- hehe
- prototyping co-drawing with Gemini Flash 3 at Google in these demos "thinking" is disabled, which makes the model return tokens very quickly (all videos are realtime), and I find these rapid responses pretty good for the use-cases I'm experimenting with, like: executing simple diagrams ...

View full threadI'm excited to announce that we're bringing back the Future of Coding events in London, with the first happening in January. @mimireyburn.bsky.social and @chee.party and I will keep these regular under the new and updated name: FEELING OF COMPUTING luma.com/qe8iexzs
- We'll also be setting up a London HQ for the Tentpole collective that I'm part of. The London contingent includes me, Chee, Mimi and Orion. We're currently looking at some options re: studio space. If you can help, speak to us!

- You've helped me to continue building experimental tools, publishing papers, giving talks, and more recently, I've been enjoying breaking some eardrums. youtube.com/watch?v=il3gjH3F1rQ

- Very happy to announce I’ve officially joined as a researcher @inkandswitch.com to work on malleable software! I’ve also been doing lots of quiet work on @folkjs.org with @chrisshank.com and look forward to sharing more of that soon too!

- Wish we'd known about this tool from @conradgodfrey.com when we made our last episode of Map Men. Instantly visualise where place names are across Britain. Excellent stuff! (See if you can make it show where the Danelaw is.) conradgodfrey.com/grep_britain/
