- Reposted by Martin T JahnSo happy to share this! Bacteriocins were first discovered over 100 years ago, but what do they actually do? We look at >1000 bacteriocin plasmids and find links to virulence and antimicrobial resistance, and frequent bacteriocin sharing in Enterobacteriaceae. www.nature.com/articles/s41...
- Reposted by Martin T JahnERC-funded PhD (infection biology) and a Postdoc (genetic engineering) position in my lab. #phagetherapy
- Reposted by Martin T JahnIs it “winner-takes all” when the simplest living things compete? Check out my fresh publication on phage coexistence in Science and a thread below🧵 www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
- We are looking for a #Postdoc (m/f/d) with expertise in cell culture/immunology in the Bacterial Infection Ecology Lab @helmholtzhzi.bsky.social to study how gut microbiota manipulate their host landscape and to advance microbiome-based therapies. Apply here: bit.ly/4eFgQO1

- Microbes are densely packed spaces - no empty bags. Fantastic renderings of a Mycoplasma cell #SpatialMicro ccsb.scripps.edu/gallery/myco...
- It has been a great journey to tackle computational elements of this work - lots of potential to predict (&optimise) pathogen protection. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
- Wrapped up supervising a project on Tubeworm symbioses! Such a throwback to marine micro days. From sponges to mice, my academic journey keeps reinforcing my belief: the treasure lies in understanding ground-rules of host-microbe ecology & evolution applicable across host organisms.
