- #FeedTheBirds It is a critical time for them. Because Blue Tits are so small (weighing only about 11g), they burn energy incredibly fast just to stay warm and cannot store enough fat to last more than a single long, cold night. #birds #BirdsInFlight @rspbengland.bsky.social @btobirds.bsky.social

- Did you know? Like most birds, blue tits can see ultra-violet (UV) light. The brightness of the feathers is thought to provide a variety of signals; for instance, male blue tits have been shown to choose females with brightly coloured crowns as they make fitter mothers (ref The Wildlife Trust) #Bird

- There’s a Sedge that returns to the same bush every year, I know not necessarily the same Sedge 🤷♂️ They single out that tree on edge of a reed bed that I pass on my daily walk.
