Pope Francis died shortly after I arrived in Rome three weeks ago. I got married in one of the city’s oldest basilicas the day of his funeral. Since then I’ve been praying for a new pope who will continue Francis’s compassion and will stand up to the bullies of the world. I’m optimistic.
