Marie Stadel 🟥
Assistant Professor at Tilburg University 🇳🇱 researching the combination of experience sampling methodology, personal social networks & qualitative methods 🌻
- Reposted by Marie Stadel 🟥What a week! After 5 days, the #mitnb workshop has come to an end. We had a keynote on time scales and two workshops on careless responding and reliability. The central part of the workshops were the hackathons. We had super diverse hackathons, all designed to assess measurement in #ESM. (1/4)
- Reposted by Marie Stadel 🟥1st day of #MITNB meeting at @tesc-tilburgu.bsky.social. Excited for the week ahead, where we'll tackle measurement issues in #ESM, e.g. modeling processes across timescales, building a formal theory on measurement, and evaluating statistical assumptions in #ESM data. Go teamwork <3

- Happy to announce that this month I am starting as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Methodology and Statistics @tilburg-university.bsky.social 🎉🎉 That means moving from one end of 🇳🇱 to the other! Looking forward to working with my new colleagues and @tesc-tilburgu.bsky.social 🧑🏼🏫🧑🏼💻

- An open letter supporting the international bachelor’s psychology programs threatened for cuts. Proceeding with these cuts would damage some of the most important and impactful psychology departments globally. #supportdutchpsychology openletter.earth/against-lang...
- Reposted by Marie Stadel 🟥Four large Dutch universities, including Leiden University where I work, have decided to throw international psychology bachelor programs under the bus in an effort to appease the rightwing government. - 📣New preprint 📣 @leonieschorrlepp.bsky.social, @domimaciejewski.bsky.social, @bringmannlaura.bsky.social, Mithra Hesselink and I wrote a paper illustrating the value of qualitative methods for checking the validity of your ESM data. doi.org/10.31219/osf...
- We describe examples from the literature and our own (still to be published) work how to concretely use qualitative methods to check for 3 validity issues related to *subjective* interpretations of participants: The interpretation of concepts, scales and the study as a whole.
- Next to that we provide introductory boxes for each qualitative method that also review its use in the clinical ESM field.
- It was such a pleasure to work on this project during my final months in the PNN board. For this report I led 13 focus group discussions with a total of 46 PhD candidates from all across the Netherlands. Hopefully our results and recommendations help improve future PhD trajectories.
- 🗞️ PRESS RELEASE: New PNN report reveals PhDs in NL face systematic delays—4-year contracts typically extend beyond 5 years! It’s time to address supervision quality & unrealistic planning. 📚🎓 👉 shorturl.at/SJSSn

We combined experience sampling data with smartphone usage data to examine the bidirectional association between well-being and smartphone use over time. ⬇️
