- Lenin writing about Trotsky, lol www.marxists.org/archive/leni...

- so the dozens of texts of Lenin writing against Trotsky, the Mensheviks, the Liquidators, etc, etc over the course of over a decade are all fake? Trotsky being a wavering Menshevik who only joined the Bolsheviks at the last second is fake?

- the problem isn't charging for it. charging a nominal cost (like, $1 to $5) for publications actually increases buy-in and credibility and covers the costs of production. the problem with trots doing it is that its ALL they do and also their theory is wrong and bad.
- these are all real things that happened in the USSR and other communist-led countries at various times. of course it all depends on the specific conditions, at times people were starving and had to work a lot due to the circumstances (like... the period of WWI to WWII was Not A Good Time for most)
- and like the USSR had state symphonies, state cinema, state art and literature. its not just making propaganda (ok in some way it is, but its pro-social propaganda). think in comparison to how it works now, where artists are only paid big bucks if they make capitalist propaganda.
- i think the primary way it would work is through state patronage for "professional" artists (no need to separate musicians). but keep in mind the typical worker would have much much better work/life balance and working conditions, creating art outside of work would be much easier.
- like there is full employment guaranteed (like, it'll be in the constitution lol) and that doesn't mean you're forced to work it means you're guaranteed to have a job. so you can move around and find a job you enjoy. there would be communal childcare, more vacation days, fewer working hours, etc.

View full threadthis is gonna be so hard to hear for a lot of people lmao. but its totally true. yeah you can grow enough veggies and fruit for one person in a few hundred sq ft, but you need at least grain and probably meat and dairy to make up for the rest of the calories. and the inputs alone for that are huuuge
- it is 100% a result of petty bourgeois individualist ideology, which is why you only see "anarchist" oriented people talking about this. you're never gonna see a Marxist homesteader or commune member or at least not one with a coherent ideological worldview lmao
