- Reposted by Let’s Change CambridgeMaura Healey is now the only Democratic governor in the whole country with a 287(g) agreement. It is shameful that she insists on collaborating with a rogue, fascist agency.
- Close reading is a useful skill in politics. This usage of "residential" presumes a street already lined by tall apartment building isn't residential. Thus, you're only truly a resident if you live in the correct kind of structure: the small expensive kind. (Different city, same bullshit phrases.)

- Reposted by Let’s Change CambridgeFor anyone who ever claimed that the Gaza Health Ministry death toll in Gaza could not be trusted - today the IDF acknowledged it agrees with their numbers. www.haaretz.com/israel-news/...
- School Committee member Hudson posted a presentation slide that has some errors in it, as evidence teachers are bad at their job. A _student's_ slide. I haven't told my daughter that if she makes a mistake in a school presentation, Member Hudson might post it to score points; seems demoralizing.
- If someone wants to do the organizing work for this, there are successful templates you can emulate of how to get Cambridge to make major changes. And this would be a great week to get started.

- Fun fact: Due to an obscure Massachusetts law from 1873, whenever you see one of Cambridge or Somerville's 5-ft snow plows you are legally required to sing "Baby plow doo doo doo doo doo doo". www.cambridgeday.com/2026/01/27/b...

- I don't care about football, and won't be watching the Superbowl, but as a matter of principle I'll be rooting for the Seagulls.
- @weatherishappening.com I'm looking at next weekend's forecast and uh is this Snowpocalypse 2?

- 🎵 Every spot is precious, every spot is great! If a parking spot is wasted, God is quite irate! Every spot is wanted, every spot is good. Every spot is needed, in your neighborhood!🎵
- Notes from a walk in Somerville: - Market Basket isn't that crowded, for Market Basket anyway. Assuming you can walk there. Can't vouch for how well stocked it is, didn't actually go in. - Icy sidewalks are now extra dangerous cause the snow hides the fact it's icy.
- Reposted by Let’s Change CambridgeThe pain and the outrage is correct and just and I'm glad everyone can see and understand it here, and this is also already what BLM was, if you argued for training, police reform or body cams instead of abolition this is what you sounded like, this is why people were so mad at you
- Reposted by Let’s Change CambridgeAs someone who has spent over 35 years trying to explain that violence is inherent to policing only to have most people be OK with this, I could be excused if I decided to just give up. But I'm not. I knew we would be where we are today. I still think that we do not have to live like this.

- The Massachusetts legislature solves this problem by not passing any laws.
- The fact the Summer St bike lane is considered a national best is so sad. Like, it's a lot better than what was there before, but it's only one direction on a two-way street, and it's not protected for large stretches with just a tiny one inch curb perfectly designed for a delivery truck to park on.

- Body cameras will solve it! It's almost as if the House GOP was inspired by the Cambridge City Council. www.politico.com/live-updates...
- They kinda do. In Cambridge, you can have a mental breakdown, the police will show up, shoot you based on a made-up policy that is not CPD policy ("20 foot rule"), the Commissioner will explain that no policies were violated, and City Councilors will make speeches about how wonderful the police is.

- The Massachusetts Senate put out a press release when they set the primary date for 2026. The subtitle: "Bill Sets Optimal Date for Voter Participation". The optimal date? September 1st. What an amazing way to say Fuck You to renters. malegislature.gov/PressRoom/De... #massachusetts #masspoli
