I think we need an AMA series for Robotics / Embodied AI with an optional anonymous setting. Will be both fun and informative to new community members to absorb folk knowledge.
Does everyone in your community agree on some folk knowledge that isn’t published anywhere? Put it in a paper! It’s a pretty valuable contribution

As an outsider who is interested in robotics, I don't even know what the current state of the industry is. Do you know a good place to look like a video, podcast, article, book, whatever just to get a sense of "where are we now and what are the big unsolved problems"?
I would recommend taking a look at the Keynote lectures of recent robotics conferences (like CoRL, RSS, ICRA etc.). Maybe panel discussions of workshops?
I agree that this is a very noisy way to get the current state of the art, and that is why we need a better mechanism.
