- I had many big plans for this winter break, but there is a lot that did not get done. I realize that if I had done all of those things, I would have had a winter break like many previous - one that was not a break at all. My to do list is long but I actually feel rested for the first time in years.

- Really want to read more for pleasure in 2026, but my pleasure-leisure time in 2025 was very focused on knitting... which also brings me great joy. I struggle a bit with audiobooks, but maybe it's the way to do both. Any tips for someone adjusting to audiobooks for the first time??

- The H1-B announcement is extreme and shocking. As I usually say, I’m not surprised - paranoia about policies like this and about crackdowns on dissent and speech largely contributed to my permanent departure from the USA 2 years ago. But seeing my dear friends panic is breaking my heart.

- Is there anyone else who went to grad school outside of Canada who had a hellish nightmare with CRA, particularly this year? I have great tax people who I hired to help me with the last couple of years of cross-border living, but CRA is really throwing us all for a loop right now.
