Laura Marie Brown
Arts PR & Producer in Liverpool. Theatre, music and football distract me from politics. Yes, I probably can get you on the guest list. Secret Ninja. Dammit
- Gets to the heart of it when you think about who those in power take at their word and who they don’t. If they’d taken Virginia Giuffre at her word from day one things would be very different, mostly for her. This utter BS that seeps through this country about proximity to power.
- Guys, we’ve got to stop letting chronically insecure human beings find their voice by standing as MPs
- I don't know what's happening at Cutthroat Pete's but a) Never has a business been more aptly named b) I would watch a three part documentary on this
- I don't know what to do with the fact that Trevor Slattery's back story in Wonder Man is @royalcourtliv.bsky.social. If it was me we'd commission a one man, Willy Russell show featuring Trevor Slattery in full Scouse comedy musical, but this is why PRs don't programme theatre
- Reposted by Laura Marie BrownAs it’s LGBTQ+ History Month I thought I’d share some bits from my new book Tales of the Suburbs: LGBTQ+ Lives Behind Net Curtains (out in mid March) just to give a flavour of what was going on beyond the privet…
- I am in the realm of the unwell and I am livid about it
- I‘ve just seen a Scouse girl on TikTok ask if the mortuary technician washes off your makeup and does a proper skincare routine before they bury you so I think that’s probably enough internet for me today
- I do like this piece and agree with a lot of it but I fear I’m going to have to dig out my Scouse Exceptionalism essay again www.independent.co.uk/life-style/l...
- This includes a £124.4m project at University of Liverpool that would be, I’m going to pretend I understand these words but I don’t have to, "a globally unique national user facility for the direct observation of fundamental dynamic structural and chemical processes". Careers and careers of work
- Reposted by Laura Marie BrownThe arrests of journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort are a test for every MSM member with a platform. If you are not voicing your outrage at this blatant violation of the First Amendment, you are utterly discredited as a journalist.
- Arresting journalists and purchasing warehouses for camps the weekend a propaganda film is released about the first family should be far more of a wake up call than it will be
- The Arts Council now funds AI projects, which I find baffling tbh www.thestage.co.uk/news/ace-to-...
- "The UK creative industries — which contributed £125 billion to the economy in 2024 and supported 2.4 million jobs — are being destroyed by an AI sector that, whatever its long-term potential, contributed just £11 billion in the same year and supported only 85,000 jobs." archive.is/hvRv2
- Need to talk about how much Curtis Jones looks like a lad down County Road who's been told by his ma to get a pint of milk and he's livid about the cold
- Arts education is already decimated now PE. Because what need to working class kids have for culture, fitness and sports? It’s been a long commitment to undermine state education and now you have teachers with no memory of what it was before www.theguardian.com/society/2026...
- The Irish Garda on the Traitors who’s just taking out the fellas who are decent, good at stuff and liked is the most Garda thing (only on Ep 3)
- Reposted by Laura Marie BrownCalling transphobia a 'gateway drug' to the far right undersells it. It's pure accelerant. Grimly fascinating to guess what crankery becomes any famous transphobe's secondary obsession, cos they all have one: 15 minute cities are fascism! Grok noncing is cool! ICE are good! We should kill all dogs!
- How do you create a media literate consumer in an age of AI? Is it checklists, teaching people what AI looks like? Social media companies have proved they’re not going to be good partners. Can’t rely on the market, the industry or the platforms to do that work. So who does it? Govts everyone hates?
- I feel like all modern UK politics has done is given dumb people something to have an opinion on all the time
- lol
- Hate watching United win Love watching Arsenal lose
- LOOK outside and TELL me if it’s raining. Don’t close the curtains and tell me people are arguing about whether it’s raining or not
- Reposted by Laura Marie BrownAny Half Man Half Biscuit fans on here interested in going to their Manchester gig next Friday night? (30th). The people I was going with have dropped out so I’ve got 3 tickets spare now and @twickets.bsky.social isn’t working so I can’t list them there. £30 each (FV + fees). Mobile tickets. #HMHB
- Reposted by Laura Marie BrownOh my god! No! NO! STOP GIVING MEN HIDDEN CAMERAS!
- A lot of talk in arts circles at the moment is about the devolution of arts funding. I wrote about this last summer about how there’s a lack of enthusiasm for independent art scenes that is crushing spirits open.substack.com/pub/liverpoo...
- So devastated am I about the Andy Robertson news I immediately got a migraine and had to sleep in a dark room for two hours. Pass the smelling salts
- When I produced a phone in, if you ever wanted to prompt calls you brought up one of two things; bins and dog poo on the pavements www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

- The horse in the hospital knows what he’s doing, guys
- Under 16’s social media sounds like great social media. How do I tell Instagram I’m under 16?
