- when I worked on wards as a pharmacy technician in 2020-2022, I witnessed a woman be moved to a male bay because she was trans and the way her notes were written was nothing short of horrific. the way she was spoken about was awful. I was scared to speak out, I was a kid.

- that’s not an excuse but that’s why I didn’t. there is, realistically, no chance of having side rooms available for trans patients. side room allocation is complex. they go to the most complex and unwell patients and someone having a fainting spell or a fall isn’t that.Jan 9, 2025 21:33
- trans patients should be put on the appropriate wards, aka the wards that correspond to their gender identity. that isn’t for a stranger to decide. the care is the exact fucking same - at least on the wards that I worked, Acute Assessment, aka the first step in admission
- dismissing trans patients only serves to further the struggle that hospital staff has re: convincing patients that they can trust us. we need to listen to them. our own values need to be left at the door. we don’t need to get it, we need to listen.
