Something I’ve been musing on for a while is trying to make the ‘ultimate’ oc and what I mean by that is like, riding the line of translation and boiling an oc down to core traits that can be translated from various fictional universes
I wanted to do this with Koi originally because I really liked what I saw on Toyhouse about some of the ocs there with thousands of images and aus and I was like wow,, so cool
But what I quickly realised was that the mermaid-ness of Koi in both designs is a key form of her and it’s kinda hard to cleanly translate, although possible and then I got to thinking what the perfect base for a project like this would even be which is when I remembered my cotton doll Odette
Jun 19, 2025 22:19So I really kind of worked backwards with Odette where I got the doll and then tried to (and I’m still kinda in the process of) figuring her out and who she is and stuff and it’s hard
But she is like, the perfect base in my opinion, or as close as I’m going to get as most games have a human or humanoid option and from there as long as some sort of purple hair is possible we have the main elements already sorted
It also works bc it works well with doll makers and other things and I know I do want to keep her as a human or the human equivalent in all universes because I think that allows for cleaner translation
