Sometimes starting over is the right choice. Even if you’re many hours in. Even if you’re on a tight deadline. Even if it hurts to throw work away it saves frustration and often even time in the long run.

Just this week I threw away a piece 8 hours in on a pretty tight deadline; I was struggling and really in the weeds with it and it turned out a fresh start with a slightly different pose and better reference fixed all my problems
Jan 12, 2026 01:55Just as true, if not more true, if you’re closer to the beginning of your artistic journey - I’ve seen folks get really stuck trying to fix a piece again and again to make it right when what they’re trying to do is just a little outside their abilities. Take what you’ve learned, make something new.
