- “ICE will just ignore all of this!” Of course, but I’m pretty sure Republicans won’t agree to most of it in the first place. Look at the ACA subsidy battle—the biggest no brainer in the world politically would have been to agree to kick the can down the road a year or two but they still won’t.
- Speaking of which, suppose Republicans did agree to extend the enhanced ACA subsidies. If you’re certain ICE would just ignore these requirements (which I agree is likely), why wouldn’t they just ignore paying out the extra subsidies?
