- “Sacrifice zone” has become a powerful label for naming unequal burdens of toxic contamination, too often located in and near marginalized communities. The problem is that naming polluted places as “zones” implies toxic containment when PFAS, dioxins, etc easily move thru air, water, and soil.
- Another problem is that there’s no clear end to what places might be “sacrificed” by toxic industrial, municipal, or military activities. In a system that demands constant growth, more & more places are turned into input sources or waste sinks, ultimately making every place vulnerable to sacrifice.

- Reposted by Kimberley ThomasNEW: There’s a disaster unfolding in Alaska right now. And no major network is covering it. The remnants of Typhoon Halong battered western Alaska overnight. Homes, with people in them, have literally been swept into the Bering Strait. At least 20 are missing. No comment from any federal agency.

- The new executive orders slashing funding & programs for social justice and env’tl protection paint a bleak picture for the future of climate justice (CJ). But liberal political theory–the basis of the mainstream CJ movement–was always going to fall short even without these cuts tinyurl.com/2ju5k82x

- All the shitposting on here about AI is giving me life! I didn’t expect to see so many others disgusted by the hype. To add to the pile on, I’m baffled by assertions that AI is going to solve problems, from water security to climate change, that are inherently social and political in nature.

- Reposted by Kimberley Thomas1/ 🚨 Conspiracy theories about the 2024 election miss the bigger picture. The truth? It wasn’t one night, one hack, or one fraud. It was a system rigged in plain sight – right in front of us. The playbook was out in the open for years. But hardly anyone paid attention. Here’s how they did it... 🧵
