Kevin Dupuy
I will not be tolerated. My life is international politics, travel, & @KelsaPellettiere.com. Some call me a “recovering libertarian,” but I’m more like a functioning libertarian. I voted against myself one time.

- Reposted by Kevin Dupuyone of my strongest beliefs is that we're in our situation right now bc some of the most prominent talking heads (e.g. joe rogan, andrew schulz) are learning about politics in their 40s and 50s, instead of their teens and early 20s, and we have to go along for the ride as they learn basic things
- Holy smokes.

- It’s crazy how quickly Louisiana has backslid since the GOP took back the governorship. Crazy thing is, it’s not like JBE was unpopular! Had he been allowed he absolutely would have been competitive, if not the favorite for a third term.
- Although some states have also passed laws restricting parole, none have been as aggressive as Louisiana, which eliminated parole entirely for prisoners incarcerated after Aug. 1, 2024. “Louisiana is an outlier,” one expert said. “It’s a disaster.” With @veritenews.org
- Oxford recovery update: all the parking meters on the Square are off, so it’s a free for all. At least on the spots where there aren’t light poles knocked over onto the street.
- Australia’s conservative parties continue to be in turmoil as former junior coalition parter the Nationals will have a leadership challenge the morning, David Littleproud is expected to retain his position.
- As a lifelong libertarian I… yeah okay, fair.
- That sound you hear is roaring laughter coming from every Democratic ad firm in the country. You won’t be able to scratch your arm without hearing this quote on every TV, radio, streaming, and social media site in the fall.
- Oh no, how will I ever make it to the midnight premiere of MELANIA?
- We seem to be the epicenter of the coverage of the storm, every time I hear or watch national news coverage they are in Oxford. We punch above our weight in everything, including disasters apparently.
- I-22 N doesn’t look fun tonight.
- Open primaries would be going in the exact wrong direction - continuing to weaken already weak parties that has led to the moment we are in. Ideally, I’d love closed, party-run primaries with ranked choice voting in the general election.
- If you’ve seen about Oxford on the news, it is pretty bad here. I think the comparison I made to a hurricane the other day is about correct, as someone that’s lived through a few major hurricanes in my life. Fortunately the car survived, damage to the house appears minimal.
- My fiber connection is going to be down for a while I suspect, but my backup ISP (which happens to be the one I work for) is alive and I have two days worth of shitposting to do!
- FOLKS we are back online! Huge props to the city of Oxford for their hard work, our street (which granted is only a mile south of the Square) was restored less than 48 hours after the outage after a devastating ice storm. Thought it was going to be a cold night - indoor temp was 47!
- We are here! Oxford is in rough shape. Wanted to let you all know we are okay!
- Oxford asks people to stay the fuck home.
- 3 AM update: it’s very spooky, I’ve been through enough hurricanes to say that it is like a hurricane in Oxford but completely silent except for the sound of limbs and stuff hitting the house.
- I now understand what people mean when they talk about the sound of “gunshots” as trees and branches fall down.
- So we are in the middle of the big ice storm and the power is going on and off erratically as we are trying to get some sleep. Unfortunately ALL of the lights in my house come on when the power returns including the giant fan light in my bedroom that I never use.

- On tonight’s White House agenda: Trump and guests will get a private screening of MELANIA, the documentary about the First Lady, @thr.com reports. Attendees include Apple CEO Tim Cook, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, Mike Tyson, per the article.
- In case you were wondering, NBC’s Nightly News broadcast aired the discredited “official” DHS report of what happened (the victim approached them with a gun and was shot as he resisted being disarmed) without any additional facts or evidence of what actually happened.
- Always bring up the time right-wing libertarians got mad at Jo Jorgensen, the 2020 Libertarian nominee, for just saying “Black Lives Matter.” The entire point of the ideology is opposing state violence!

- I was actually talking about this earlier: one of the reason Minnesota is such a target is because there is a delusion within the MAGA right that Minnesota SHOULD be voting red alongside their neighboring states, and the only reason they aren’t is massive immigration-led voter fraud.
- This is pretty damning. Obviously we can’t make any determinations, but it sure looks like one agent disarmed the victim then someone else shot him a split second later.
- Millions of Americans (including my parents) this is their world. This is all they hear and believe and think those of us that see actual news are the crazy ones living in a bubble.
- Media analysis is all I can rationally offer right now, and I hope that people who often rightly dunk on cable news can give MSNOW their flowers for this extremely impactful, on the ground coverage.

- MS NOW has live coverage of the current confrontation between ICE and Minneapolis, just airing the scene without much commentary. Which is actually a really good use of a 24 hour news network vs a talking head.
- I don’t know why I’m still on the State of Louisiana text list, but I think if Jeff wants to run Greenland he better get used to the ice.
- They, like me, are from southern Louisiana don’t know exactly what an “ice storm” is. But we might be about to find out! Best of luck everyone!
- We shall never be warm again.
- In the 95 Quebec referendum, the Quebec government tried to get silent conversations with Washington for recognition and trade deals if they won and were frustrated that not only would we not talk to them, we seemed genuinely confused that they would be potentially breaking away from Canada.
- The Australian opposition conservative Coalition has split (again!) as the Nationals resign from Sussan Ley’s frontbench after Ley fired three Nationals ministers over opposition to the government’s hate speech laws, which the Coalition had agreed to support.
- Reposted by Kevin DupuyNo one can be watching this Davos speech and reach any conclusion but that the President of the United States is mentally disturbed and that something is deeply wrong with him. This is both embarrassing and extremely dangerous.

- FWIW, I don’t think Trump is going to “invade” or occupy Greenland in any meaningful way. Far more likely he tweets at 2 AM that we are annexing it and announces Greenland is American territory, they send two soldiers out to raise a flag for a photo op, and Denmark/EU tries to ignore it until 2029.
- Did any Democratic politician go on TV this morning and point out that Russia and China WANT us to take Greenland? To counter the administration’s talking points about Russia and China being the reason we “need” it?
- 10/10 job to the Danish military PR team for releasing a briefing photo with the most Greenland thing ever - a skinned bear fur on the wall of the briefing room.
- No he won’t be. Bacon may support it… I’d wager Bacon would vote to impeach now. But if the GOP isn’t willing to remove him BEFORE he does this, they won’t be after either.
