Secondly, NYC used to famously not call snow days. From 1990-2000 NYC public schools had a total of TWO snow days IIRC. Both for the Blizzard of 96 which dumped like 20 inches of snow in 24 hours
I think it's really bad that the group that claims to speak for Jews at Columbia University is so grossly xenophobic.
Also - Mamdani did grow up in NYC.
Jan 26, 2026 16:22When I was young, it was policy NOT to call school off regardless of how bad the weather. Some parents may not get the message and send their kid out to a locked school; others were not able to stay home from work themselves. The school was ALWAYS open, tho sometimes only to sit in the gym & read.
