- I miss the years of hashtag movements, which simply nailed a cause: eg #metoo or #blacklivesmatter. The Epstein reporting suffers from constantly pointing to one (now dead) man, instead of the entire sick web of culprits and complicity.

- Let me fix this title: Grand old men of capitalism continue to haunt vulnerable women and girls

- “populist politics, corruption and squeezing critical media not only go together, but mutually reinforce each other” 👇
- "Colonization didn't end in the 1960s. Extractive colonization exists now." An important reminder from @seyeabimbola.bsky.social from today's decolonising #globalhealth keynote at @itmantwerp.bsky.social (I'm following online now).

- Like all bubbles, the illusion that billionaires are successful saviours has, in 2026 the latest, popped. Time to open your eyes and ears if you’re still hero-praising these broligarchs who tred on democracy (and women) like dirt.
- 🤯 All. Of. This.
- President Trump attacked CNN correspondent Kaitlan Collins in the Oval Office on Tuesday, calling her “the worst reporter” and scolding her for not smiling as she tried to ask about the latest release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein. trib.al/GORWvyS
- Did you know only 5% of R&D goes into anything related to women’s health? I didn’t, but being in #menopause, this is really sinking in as I navigate the #healthsystem: no awareness, diagnoses, or treatments for most (some painful and scary) ailments. 1/2
- Every word of this 💯
- Reposted by Katri BertramWhat began as a crisis of resources now risks becoming a crisis of direction for global health governance. My latest op-ed argues for the World Health Assembly to initiate a time-bound, member state-led process to unify fragmented global health architecture reforms. blogs.lse.ac.uk/globalhealth...
- Worth a read. Food for thought on whether value-based arguments work to defend democracy, or inequality-based ones (I’d go for both 😉): www.zeit.de/2026/05/demo...

- Asking critical questions and trying to create a more just system is *not* the same as trying to destroy a system. If we‘re not allowed discourse, we’re playing in the radical right court…1/2

- What a misleading title. “MSC, as a private organization, is free to choose whom to invite.” In my opinion a catastrophic decision by MSC. More here: katribertram.wordpress.com/2026/01/19/m...
- I’ve been reading @economist.com since I was a teen (30+ years now) and it’s surreal to realize the US section is now more about dictatorship, corruption and violent conflict than any other section 🤯
- Reposted by Katri BertramAuschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers. This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder. Auschwitz took time.
- In 2026, the usual #globalhealth circuit (circus?) is taking place: same people in new commissions and iniatives, same faces at the same conferences…same people stating that now‘s the time to act (for the same old things). 1/2

- In 2017, walking around DC, I photographed hundreds of these yard signs. In 2026, it feels crazy what we need to add: -HIV causes AIDS -Vaccines save lives -Invading other countries is illegal -Every person is a human being with human rights -Lies do not make reality true …. 😔
- As political restrictions, funding cuts and AI are radically changing how organizations are staffed, it’s more important than ever to reflect on the human condition and our humanity as leaders and managers. My next blog is on a strange subject - thinking: katribertram.wordpress.com/2026/01/29/m...
- “We have to be advocates” (or activists). Recommended #globalhealth listening and 🙏 @madhupai.bsky.social @josephharrisbu.bsky.social for sharing this conversation.
- In the series of carefully hopeful political news
- As #globalhealth jobs are cut, I’m seeing two trends: - serve local (community organizations) - go corporate (via pharma or direct to big tech) What does this say about our community (?) …
- Reposted by Katri BertramWe are opening an investigation into Grok because we believe that X may have breached the DSA. We have seen antisemitic content, non-consensual deepfakes of women, and child sexual abuse material. In Europe, no company will make money by violating our fundamental rights. link.europa.eu/Fh8h84
- The German Chancellor has again infuriated > half of the population by calling for an end of #LifeStyleTeilzeit (“lifestyle” part-time jobs). This after stating being an expert on women because he has a wife & two daughters & a call for (white) daughters to be protected from (foreign) migrants.
- Look forward to a few days and good #globalhealth discussions in Amsterdam.

- Reposted by Katri BertramCountering Trump’s decision to pull the U.S. out of the World Health Organization, California is the first American state to join the @who.int’s Global Outbreak Alert & Response Network. With GOARN, we’ll keep working to help protect Californians from public health threats.
- JUST IN: The US has completed its withdrawal from the World Health Organization, the US Department of Health and Human Services said, finalizing a longstanding goal of President Donald Trump. cnn.it/4a7NRmO
- @zeit.de title story, @derbernd.bsky.social asks the most important question Germany and (democrats in) Europe should be asking themselves: “Has the US now finally departed - or is it just a few years ahead of us?” 🎯 #democracy #newworldorder
