- Right?! This is great new.
- It is hard to convey how awful it is in the US now. We are attacked, disappeared, murdered by our own government. Our leaders have little regard for human rights, or if they do, are afraid to stand up. We are not blind to the fear and chaos we cause to those outside the US. Sending love and hope.
- Thanks so much, happy that it motivated discussion!
- Reconnecting with social media and had to share this fabulous open access article! #DevLangDis @karlamcgregor.bsky.social we loved discussing this in our doc seminar with Dr. Kamhi! pubs.asha.org/doi/10.1044/...
- I appreciate your support, @naplic.bsky.social
- great work @karlamcgregor.bsky.social (again). You are really helping to move the conversation forward.
- Great to talk w @HumanChapters about being a scientist in an equity related field in the current US. Said some things I’d been wanting to say. youtu.be/BiUfKnWd2n8?...
- Thank you, @ashajournals.bsky.social! We are thrilled to get this work out into the world.

- Thank you, Jo (and @carolinebowen.bsky.social ). Things a bit overwhelming here so I haven’t been sharing this new paper as I should. I am so happy that you find it fascinating. Made my brain hurt to get these thoughts formulated as well as we did…very smart co-authors to thank on that account!
- Yes, it does seem sadly quiet. I appreciate your posts! It’s a fascinating paper. I haven’t finished it yet because of all the threads that chime. Many partly formed thoughts, I couldn’t possibly have articulated. Helpful stepping stones! Thanks @karlamcgregor.bsky.social #DevLangDis 🦋
- In two hours, I will join friends for a 4th of July celebration. Like so many of us in the U.S., I do so out of a need to join w others who love this country deeply and, at the same time, who are horrified by the ways that our government is trampling on human rights. Have mercy.

- Thank goodness. Hope other institutions will not cave to the evil being spewed from the WO.
- Please keep watching. What’s happening to us is horrifying.
- This horrifying.
- Wanted: Non-U.S. family to adopt 62-y-o U.S. woman + husband & dog. Unlike kids you are currently raising, we’re responsible, quiet, tidy. Do not require chauffeurs, braces, or college tuition. We are not learning to play musical instruments. Dog is small; you’ll barely realize we’re around. TIA.

- News from the U.S. is grim. If possible, keep doing your science. Advocate; stay curious; support each other; publish those data sets that have been sitting on the back burner. Don’t let the bullies win. #DLD #DevLangDis #ScienceIsReal @ashajournals.bsky.social

View full threadOops, part 3 of 4. That’s just 1 Center. Clinical care will be compromised they close the DoE (ensures compliance w the Individuals w Disabilities Act guaranteeing school-based services to those who qualify).
- Part 4 of 4. Don’t get me started re blocking communication from the Center for Disease Control and withdrawal from the WHO. In the US, science & service are no longer just career choices, but acts of resistance. I’m all in.
- Part 1 of 3. S, the impact will be huge, I fear. We often fund trainees and post docs on supplements for under-represented groups, we assume these will evaporate; I have a five-year award to study gender equity in language service receipt that could be taken away;
- Part 2 of 3. I have two scientists in my Center whose grants were to be reviewed last week, but were not, leading to delays and gaps for projects under consideration for renewal; A third colleague received an excellent score (5th percentile) on a recent application that possibly, won’t meet pay line
