- Some indie/self-published books I've very much enjoyed recently - fantasy and science fiction paired with mysteries. All of these are first in series and I've read or plan to read farther in each series soon!
- Anna and Palmer dressed for a rare icy Texas walk. Alert for signs of squirrels and kids on sleds.
- Rare brother sharing of the giant floofy dog bed.
- I made a little caterpillar friend for my desk
- Sometimes I just don't understand my dog's feet.
- I've been on a non-fiction reading kick lately and very highly recommend all three of these books as enlightening, well researched, and infuriating but somewhat hopeful. @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social, @johnhiggs.bsky.social, @alexclapp.bsky.social
- Texas got some seasonal color this year instead of going straight from green to brown.

- Historical murder mystery with greyhound? Yes please
- Southwest Airlines is having fun with Halloween week travel
- Morning beach walk
- The monarch butterflies have been all over these exuberant yellow wildflowers in my front yard.
- My first time at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta - what a trip! It was amazing to see so many balloons launch into a stately dance in the sky.
- Pretty things can be found in alleyways on dog walks

- Palmer with the polite walk nag and the escalated walk nag. We're going to have to do something about the 60lb dog getting up on the desk and standing on the laptop thing.
- A tangle of oak tree limbs for this moment of suburbian nature.
- Anna curls like a quote mark between the bolsters of two dog beds, happy and snug, contemplating an infinite Sunday afternoon or possibly her next snack. Please forgive the copious amounts of white dog hair liberally sprinkled on the beds - every day is shedding day but washing day will come soon.
- A rabbit braves the yard of the hounds
- Tiny: flowers and grasshopper
- I am incapable of folding a towel and putting it on a stack of folded towels without then giving that stack a little pat. I have tried not to pat the stack and I have failed.
- The bestest foster boy Jesse was adopted into a fabulous home, and now we have emergency-medical-foster Shiner. He's 10 years old and in pretty bad shape. Skin and ear infections, heartworm, malnourished, labored breathing, and horrible teeth. He's as comfortable as can be and getting treatment.
- Today's vibe in three dogs
- Squee - dog-sized dino!
- Summer - blue, blue sky, green leaves, white cotton candy clouds.
- It's getting Texas summer hot but dogs gotta sunbathe.

- Poetry - sometimes it just resonates deeply with your soul. I checked Instructions for Traveling West by Joy Sullivan out of the library. I'm not quite half done, and I've ordered a copy because I need it on my shelf forever.
- The first tomatoes of the season!
- The current project that's been taking up my spare time - teddy bears for my niece & nephew.
- I'm going to have to sign up for a streaming service, and actually watch TV. It's not like me, but this is the reason and I'm very excited!
- And lo, the trailer did drop: www.apple.com/tv-pr/news/2... #murderbot
- Our foster boy, Jesse, is a 7 year old greyhound mix (maybe some borzoi or wolfhound given his size and fuzziness). A gentle giant who loves people and is good with other dogs.
- Palmer is feeling a bit clingy today
- I also repotted the orchid this year and it's decided that it's time to bloom!
- The re-pottings will continue until plant morale improves
