akira may be the only good colourised manga out there because it was done by a professional who knew how to use the colours to build on and enhance a mood, and even then i'd say that at it's best it's still only on par with the original.
is there any way of reading jojo in black and white that *isn't* low quality fan scanlations from 15 years ago with like comic sans and shit. the coloured versions that everyone treats as standard just don't look good lmao.
Oct 26, 2025 06:43it helps that otomo's style is suited to colouring in the first place. not a lot of panels make use of the abstraction and omission of detail that b&w linework lets you get away with.
still, the coloured version has a different mood from the stark monochrome. it's not a straight improvement
