- Let’s make it viral folks. Thank you @histoftech.bsky.social.
- No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition. Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
- It used to be a dream job. In many ways, it still is. This is what it’s really like to work in America’s national parks in the present climate.
- Yeah @marenmorris.bsky.social gets it

- You know what evil looks like? The 5 year old boy who was kidnapped and trafficked by ICE-Gestapo having spent more time in jail than anyone in the Epstein Files.
- MEMPHIS: “Memphis Safe Task Force” (U.S. marshal) caught KICKING A PUPPY 😳 as they arrested a guy for on a drug warrant “He was harmless. There’s no reason he should’ve done that.” @GovBillLee this is what we’re paying $1 Million a day for?🤔 Full: wreg.com/news/video-u...
- Swear to god, ICE could just announce they're leaving a city but not leave and the media will just stop covering that city completely even though ICE never left. It's what ICE and the media did with LA and they're doing it with Minneapolis too

- This is overt racism. Full stop. There’s no ‘misinterpretation’ and no excuse. This is who he is, who he’s always been, and why he should never be anywhere near power again. And there’s a reason the tapes from The Apprentice have never been released.

- I grew up surrounded by a lot of people who would always say the edgiest, most out-there thing to get everybody’s attention and gain control of the room So now edgy comedians and musicians just make me feel like I’m at a really boring family reunion
- In stories like this, the news media should include a sentence reading: “Many recent accusations by Homeland Security against protesters and observers have fallen apart when more facts have been revealed.”

- Nothing says cinematic excellence like a ratings investigation. ☠️
- Name them shame them
- NEW: Records reviewed by WIRED show DHS’s facial recognition app (Mobile Fortify) isn’t designed to actually "verify" identity—despite DHS claims and its agents relying on its matches to support probable cause in the field.
- It is really infuriating to see how misogyny really does unite men across the sociopolitical spectrum. And, in so far as the Epstein files go, they sort women into two categories: fuckable or irrelevant. When they near a hint of accountability they complain about not being able to make women prey.
- Cops were frequently getting caught planting drugs in 2017 because body cameras were new and many of them didn't understand how the technology worked. When cops hit "record" it saved the 30 seconds from *before* they hit the button. Eventually, they figured it out.
- Yes, it should.
- The whole surge of ICE agents is a sham. Susan Collins just called up Noem and got her to scale back ICE’s presence because they all know how bad it looks for them and she’s in a tough race. It’s nakedly partisan.
- We just wanted to say thank you to the people of Florida for standing up. Two Florida voters have taken legal action against the governor after he issued a proclamation to convene a special legislative session on congressional redistricting this April. Their filing with the state’s highest court
- NEW: Florida voters have sued Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) over his unilateral effort to launch mid-decade redistricting in the state, arguing that the governor lacks the authority to issue orders to the state legislature. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...
- This is an authoritarian power grab, full stop. Nationalizing elections would put the executive branch in control of who votes and how. That’s how dictators rig outcomes, crush opposition, and assault democratic self-government. This should alarm everyone: www.ms.now/news/trump-s...
- Luttig: It doesn’t matter what the Supreme Court does from this point forward. For two years, the Supreme Court has authorized the absolute lawlessness and unconstitutional activity of this president.
- When you're so coked up and stupid you put the scope on backwards:
- 🚨BREAKING: The White House Thursday refused to rule out the presence of immigration enforcement at voting locations this November, a response that follows extremist rhetoric about placing federal forces at the polls. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...
- Corporatist fascism, plain and simple. DHS is trying to get tech companies to hand over data on Trump critics. This is unconstitutional, and Congress must shut it down, before we turn into East Germany. techcrunch.com/2026/02/03/h...
- JUST IN: A federal judge has barred ICE and DHS from using taxpayer information provided by the IRS. Judge Talwani says that DHS' view that noncitizens lack 4th amendment rights — combined with ICE use of administrative warrants — is a recipe for abuse. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

- I can't speak to whether it is actually bortac and whether it is actually mortar launchers but I mentioned in my piece yesterday that I had witnessed tear gas being launched in the air in an arc over people's heads. This video I found on IG shows what I described
- "And even as we produce much excellent work, we too often write from one perspective, for one slice of the audience." The fact that WaPo's executive editor wrote this today illustrates that its leadership still does not understand that they are entirely responsible for destroying the Post.
