- Friend: Did you watch the Grammys? Me: Pffft! The Grammys are pointless and irrelevant. Friend: Someone you played with won one. Me: Woohoo! So cool! That's awesome!
- Does anyone know if that damn groundhog saw his shadow? I don't know if I can handle six more weeks of Edgar Winter.
- "Melania" opening weekend in Boston has sold 92 tickets out of 3,847 seats.

- If anyone needs me, I'll just be over here making out with the entire showroom at Control Voltage in NE PDX OR.
- Try harder, street! You can do it!
- Recording an album in Seattle this week with The Split Squad at a studio that is pretty much keyboard heaven.
- Okay, maybe I’ll just skip my flight.
- Saints be praised! I found my 1992 “End of the Road” cassingle with “Instrumental Version” on the B-side. Also, shame on spellcheck for not recognizing “cassingle.”
- @tookymonster.bsky.social Saw this license plate in Illinois today and thought of you…
- Blood, Sweat & Tears has had eleven Daves and twenty-one drummers, but they've never had a drummer named Dave.
- Time to try and figure out how and why this movie left such a lasting mark on me back in the ‘80s.
- Friend: Josh, can you put some guitar on this song? And it should sound kind of bad, like almost (but not quite) on purpose. Me: You've come to the right place.
- Don Henley, backstage after a Brian Wilson show telling Wilson how much his music meant, asked him to sign a first-pressing vinyl copy of "Pet Sounds." Wilson signed it: "Don, thanks for the great songs" and started to hand it back, but then decided to cross out "great" before returning it to him.

- I recorded this Christmas organ version of "Brass Bonanza." The original version was the official theme song of the Hartford Whalers, who played in the National Hockey League from 1979-1997.
- Got presents for my cousins at tonight’s annual family Hanukah party.
- Need to ask this guy at the airport with the "Best Husband Ever" t-shirt if he's willing to give me some pointers.
- I’m playing accordion this afternoon from 3:30 to 6:30 with Mike Verge, Joe Klompus, and Danielle Miraglia at Toad in Porter Square. No cover. Come say hello!
- Sun Ra's Christmas song is among his most normal AND most deranged works. Some time from 1956-1960, Ra produced & played harmonium on this song he co-wrote for unknown Chicago teen doo-wop group The Qualities. Pretty sure the woodblock player wasn't allowed to listen to playback during recording. A+
- This isn't my first rodeo, though my last one was before The Great Rodeo Reforms of 1982, so, in a way, it is.
- Here at Jim's Big Ego headquarters, we've got the song that's missing from your holiday party playlist. "I (Don't Know How to) Party" www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rrok...
- This song rules. Luther being Luther (fittingly, this 1976 track was released by Luther's pre-solo group, which is called Luther), Smooth-R&B arrangements (by former Motown legend Paul Riser) that are both tight and lush, and a killer bass-line that's frenetic without sacrificing groove/purpose/joy.
- The after-party at the end of The Dream Syndicate tour two nights ago had everything I needed.
- Happy 10th anniversary of the time I seem to have fired a confetti cannon on stage during a Dead Milkmen performance.
- My friends make sure I know about the things that really matter, and I love them for it.
