- I know I'm late to this but the Washington Post firing so many of their best international reporters is deeply depressing. Sign of the times.

Abolish the OfS, the metastisising cancer of English HE.

- I spent a January in MN many years ago, mostly in the twin cities and Rochester. The one thing I keep thinking back to is how freaking cold it was. Kudos to everyone who keep taking to the streets to document and observe, day after day.

- The thing that really gets me about US conservatism is how many people who've preached small government and fears of federal overreach for years are now celebrating Trump's bully boys. What should be the nightmare of any libertarian is now coming true and most of them are either quiet or cheering.

- Trump is wrong, ofc. There are many "written documents" confirming "right of ownership," including the 1916 Treaty of the Danish West Indies, in which the US explicitly acknowledges Danish sovereignty over Greenland at the time. That's besides the point, though, as Greenland is no longer a colony.
- It's tempting to compare the sale of the Danish Virgin Islands to the US 110 years ago to current American demands for Greenland. I urge folks to actually read up on both cases, in detail, before making such comparisons.
