CW: Infertility
Iris is hurting and just wants to hear Solas acknowledge that their situation fucking sucks. 🥲
As a writer, I’m toying with a decision I’ve made - I’ve established that Iris and Solas decided to only have the one child, but this moment is in the Thedosian equivalent of the early 1900s. Shadow and Light is set in the Thedosian equivalent of about 2015.
Feb 2, 2026 23:14The world has changed. Medicine and science have advanced far in that century and the events of Shadow and Light have Iris and Solas questioning the structure of their life. From a security perspective, but I’ve also drafted a conversation about the two of them trying to conceive again.
But does it undermine this decision they made? Is it too neat and tidy for the two of them to change their mind after the scientific advances in the century since their daughter was born?
I’m really struggling with this.
