- so a month ago I was reading @markpackuk.bsky.social’s speech on Twitter in the lords and there were obviously fake stats the government used to justify Twitter’s UK reach and its continued importance to British audiences Rob has now found the source of the data was… Twitter

- Reposted by JasonThe right wing Cato Institute has released a paper showing that, over 30 years, immigrants to the US created a fiscal surplus of $14.5 trillion, and that without immigrants, US public debt would be twice its current level.
- Started watching A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms last night. I had the vague notion to wait until a few episodes were out that I could watch back-to-back, and I think this was the right call. Only by the end of episode three did it feel like it was a Game of Thrones series.

- Who came up with this moniker, and why didn't they go around shouting the explanation?

- Glad I didn't bother to watch that Arsenal v Chelsea game. The BBC live text at one point said the most interesting things to have happened were the game being stopped because there were two balls on the pitch, and the Chelsea manager having to take his glasses off because it was raining too much.

- The thing about Spurs is, unlike United where there was a clear problem that could be addressed by a change of manager (a permanent switch to a back four), I don't see what specific change Spurs should make. They need players back from injury. And who would even come in if they sacked Frank?

- Reposted by JasonI wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good. Stay free
- I remember the 2002 World Cup mainly for the disgraceful way the UK media wanted us all to pray Beckham's metatarsal healed, despite them behaving despicably toward him post-98. And for Ronaldinho's lob over Seaman. A universe where Keane stayed and Ireland got to the final would've been amazing.
- Might be the best line Screen Junkies have ever written: "Remember Merry and Pippin? The two hobbit who are lazy, stupid, and have poor discipline around deadly weapons? Well, they both found a home - in law enforcement." #lotr #honesttrailers

- Hmm I think the precedent here is the 2020 Olympics and Euro 2020, which were both delayed due to Covid. Not quite the same obvs but shows it's possible.

- Did you know that when BBC News political reporters go for an eye test, they confirm to the optician that they can see the letters and/or numbers, but they refuse to say what they are and instead they relay the answers given to them from the other customers.
