- A quick look at the first two days of action in women's hockey at the 2026 Winter Olympics. From players, to management, it couldn't have gone much better for members of the Montreal Victoire in Italy. #MilanoCortina2026

- Natálie Mlýnková is playing in the Olympics like she expects to be on Montreal's top line when they get back. What a start for her.
- Reposted by Jared BookJessie Diggins, Olympic cross-country skiing gold medalist, from the Twin Cities: “I want to make sure you know who I’m racing for…”
- Well, make that fourth goal too.... 5-1 USA
- Completely arbitrary statistic: Les Canadiennes goals: 2 (Knight, Tutino) Victoire goals: 3 (Ljungblom - 2, Scamurra)
- Natálie Mlýnková is playing great.
- The back and forth between the CBC broadcast switching between Kenzie/Cheryl and Daniella/Becky every commercial break is keeping me on my toes. 😂
- I said before the tournament that the Olympics are a great chance for Natálie Mlýnková and Lina Ljungblom to bring some offensive confidence back with them, and yeah... So far so good.
- Natálie Mlýnková with a beauty pass to launch the breakaway for Barbara Jurickova on the Czechia goal. Montreal Victoire players came to PLAY today...3G-1A so far.
- Hayley Scamurra with the third Montreal Victoire goal of the day to make it 3-0 USA. She's not there for her offence, but it's always welcome.
- This Italian team is fun to watch. I don't think they beat Sweden, but they should be the favourites in every other Group B game. They're also the only team to have had a real centralization... #MilanoCortina2026
- I don't know who needs to hear this, but the winner of this Italy-France game is going to have a driver's seat into the Quarterfinals, IMO. #MilanoCortina2026
- As someone who covered the CWHL, this Italy-France game brings me BACK.
- Kayla Tutino, once the first overall pick in the CWHL draft, scores Italy's first goal at the Olympics. 1-1.
- Love the golf carts to the ice (this is not sarcasm)
- The game has been officially postponed to February 12 at 8:30am Eastern due to the illness with Team Finland. Finland plays the United States on Saturday. Canada now opens against Switzerland on Saturday.
- Reports from those on the ground, including Hailey Salvian & Claire Hanna that a team representative has said Finland has 13 players quarantined because they are either sick or because of exposure. They are still unsure if they will have enough players to play Canada tonight. #MilanoCortina2026
- Lina Ljungblom now has two goals. Great for her confidence going forward.

- Lina Ljungblom scores Sweden’s first goal of the game and tournament. 1-1. #MilanoCortina2026
- Only eight skaters and two goaltenders were at Finland’s morning skate as they deal with a virus throughout their roster. They play Canada later today.
- First 30 seconds was very physical and no penalties. Interesting if the standard has changed slightly despite no checking in IIHF rules. #MilanoCortina2026
- On the Swedish pregame show, they said they have a ‘fuck you’ mentality and Maia Nylen-Persson said that Lina Ljungblom is the President of Fuck Yous 😅 #MilanoCortina2026 (s/t @zebhabs.bsky.social)
- Would I have woken up for a Sweden-Germany game at 6am normally? I’d like to think so but now it’s to watch Montreal players, among other things 😅
- Montreal Victoire forward Lina Ljungblom starts on Sweden’s fourth line. Sandra Abstreiter starts in goal for Germany. Puck drop in an hour.
- Power failure less than 10 minutes into the Olympics... Oops.
- "They are the youngest team at the Olympics with a combined age of 40" Didn't even make it 30 seconds of watching the Olympics without feeling ancient.
- Newspapers are mostly relevant now if they are extremely and even potentially hyper local. Otherwise what's the point? And eliminating sports coverage is eliminating the easiest way to be just that...
- My bold prediction a day before the women's hockey Olympic tournament starts: We see at least one significant upset in round robin play. Admittedly, I thought this before Finland had a virus outbreak ahead of their first game but still think it happens at some point.
- A day before they are supposed to face Canada in their Olympic opener, Finland's women's hockey team is dealing with a norovirus outbreak and has yet to practice. Four players have it. If they are unable to ice 15 skaters and two goaltenders, they would be forced to forfeit but they expect to play.
- Found one of my old notebooks today. Has a bunch of AHL games and PWHPA games from 2019 into 2020 and suddenly stops. Weird, right? 😭 I did find notes in there from a story that never ended up being published and it’s a real shame. Maybe it will end up being in my book… 😅
- I am extremely ready for these Olympics. Likely a mix of better time zone, the fact that PWHL and NHL are both stopping and you can focus solely on it. Either way, let's go. Full Olympic event calendar already loaded on my phone 😂
- I’d say that was vintage Gallagher but I don’t even think young Gallagher could have done that 😂
